This is outta nowhere holy shit

Who we think is the replacement? Scott Nichol?

  3. TonguelessWyrm

Love ya Barry and im super excited to see what happens next!

  4. just hope it’s not health related with it being sudden

  5. GMBarryTrotz

    Honestly insane news.

    Sell off coming??

  6. catsgr8rthanspoonies

This is out of nowhere. I hope everything is okay with him. I know his tenure as GM hasn’t been the smoothest, but it seemed like things were slowly turning around.

  7. mutantfrog25

This is very surprising. I hope everything is ok with Barry.

I hope everything with Barry and his family is okay. That being said, this is a good thing. Our first pick in the top five in forever and we took someone projected to go ~15th. It’s obviously way too early to say whether that was the right call or not, but those kinds of decisions don’t exactly curry favor. He was a great coach and that doesn’t always translate to being a good GM. Hopefully we can get someone else in there who will lead the team well.

I’m just thrilled to see what Haslam’s first hire will look like… /s

Now this is what a lot of us wanted, myself included.. But if we dont hire a worthy replacement then this doesn’t mean shit.
    We better not botch this

The FA signings haven’t looked good (except for Stammer). Drafting has yet to show anything above par. Tough to see it, but maybe having some new heads can actually re-invigorate this franchise. Hopefully the new GM is some one far disconnected from the history of this team and we can breathe some fresh air for once.

I can respect what he did for the team in the early years but this needed to happen. He’s been in over his head since he took over from Poile. Frankly they shouldn’t stop here. They need to clean house and rid the front office of the boys club. Sean Henry should be fired or forced out too.

  13. GuinnessACat

Other pointed out, but this feels sudden and maybe health related?

  14. Baps_Vermicelli

I didn’t think that this was part of the plan that was being followed

  15. PerdsGonnaPerd

My conspiracy theory is that he has wanted a full rebuild the whole time, but ownership won’t let him. He’s finally fed up.

    I have 0 evidence.

Anyway, best of luck to you Trotzy.

Who wants to bet he refused to fire Bruno at ownerships request?

  17. Emotional_News_4714

    Worried this is health related

  18. Icy-Detective-2373

Thanks Barry but also glad they are making this change.

As far as I can tell, there’s only a couple reasons that this has happened. I guess we’ll know at the noon press conference. But the most likely answer is the new owner had a look at this team and decided he didn’t want any part of it anymore. I always had a suspicion that Haslam would want to put his own mark on his team.

Trotz came in with several objectives:

    -to make the team younger
-to get out of the mushy middle
-to get rid of the players that came here to retire.

Somehow he managed to fail in all three objectives.

Now the roster is bloated with veterans on retirement contracts there’s zero quality prospects playing on the team, and we’re currently very much in the mushy middle. I think Haslam saw how quick the sharks were able to get from the basement to a playoff spot and said fuck this we’re tearing it down.

Well, there goes anything productive I was going to do today.

  21. _Rainer_

Seems weird for it to happen now, when it seems like things have finally started to come together.

  22. EmbraceThePerd

If there had to be an office change as the scapegoat for the last couple seasons, I would rather it be Trotz over Bruno.

No team direction, questionable contracts and building a style of team contradictory to the style of play the coach you brought in prefers.

  23. bcn13765

I’m shocked. I hope his health is good.

  24. DrWillyTrill

Feel like “Step down” = We wanted to fire you but since you have history with the organization let’s agree that you officially move along on your own to save face for both parties

  25. Aperture_LabRat

Was he told to fire Brunette and refused?

  26. Kahrooch

Everyone saying that this is « out of nowhere » and « didn’t see this coming »…..he has made terrible moves and the team is performing awfully. We have traded away good pieces and taken on horrible contracts.

How could you not see this coming???

  27. barfinglaws

Wish him the best and hope he’s healthy.

  28. harrison_ave

Why do I feel a bit sad? I guess I’m worried this is health related like others have mentioned. Trotz’s tenure as GM wasn’t the smoothest certainly, but he did draft well. I wish him the very best. Now just please don’t bring back DP…
