  1. ur wrong about that tho, arms fully extended means its a stiff arm, very easy to exert an abrupt force to the player and knock him down… clotheslined from behind

  2. softest crosscheck maybe ever, copp did not hit gostisbehere hard enough for him to even go down in the first place from my pov, not to mention the call that led carolina to a 5 on 3 to get to OT in the first place

  3. It looks like a cross check but there seems to be a lot of that in front of the net that is completely ignored. Refs seem to be thinking the players are just jockeying for position and often ignores the first one. Maybe that was the ref's perspective but I would have called it

  4. Imagine if that was a defenseman making contact with the back of a forward to "clear the net." Refs often ignore it. Is it so surprising that they ignored it when the forward makes contact? I think it could be called either way.

  5. just look up byfuglien vs pronger . thats a battle in nfront of the net. its a hockey play. ghost went down too easily. good goal .

  6. Sell job?! Worst take ever. Gostisbehere obviously didn't know the crosscheck was coming, there is NO WAY he could have possibly embellished at all.

  7. Lol, coming from a Rangers fan

"Coming in slow" as he's watching in slow motion. Watch in real speed, obvious missed call

  8. You notice they cry about the reffing on Copp's goal but have no issue with that crap slashing call on Raymond tat led to the game being tied.

Carolina walked away with one point they might not have gotten of not for that call.

  9. I think it’s weird the NHL has decided to simply allow cross-checking in most games. Watch along the boards in any game and you’ll see guys laying crazy lumber on the small of guy’s backs. Straight up two hands on stick with stick 90 degrees to the ice. And the argument is that most of those cross checks aren’t that hard but that’s not the rule. When you let players break a rule because “well he’s not doing it that hard” or “he’s just jockeying for position” then you get subjectivity like this. And yes you can fight for position without putting two hands on your stick and then laying your stick in the small of another person’s back.

  10. blatant missed call, anyony who's ever skated before that a blindside hit makes you fall, especially from behind

  11. We saw 6 Montreal players excluding the goalie on the ice for like 15 seconds yesterday as well.

  12. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the effect it had on Ghosty, it meets the textbook definition of a cross check. Canes got robbed.

  13. Its not new, refs usually call cross-check and interference when they want to. Its almost seems they want to "balance" the game ((i totally mean interfere in the game))

  14. 0:57 You can see the Carolina player lift his left leg trying to reposition it and got softly crosschecked in the lower back immediately, making him lose his balance. I chalk it up to it just being bad timing. Not that he "tried to sell it." It's the right call imo, but let's not act like it's a flop.

  15. putting missed call in quotes is disingenuous. it is objectively a penalty, whether you want to add an embellishment or not. that means there is no goal and the game never ended in a perfect world. instead, we get NHL referees who are totally 100% definitely not the worst in sports

  16. Don’t act like Carolina got away with soft calls too because Raymond didn’t do a thing, and chiarot high stick wasn’t intentional so it shouldn’t of been a penalty

  17. Chalk it up to bad officiating. It’s been pretty bad the past few years, and continues to get worse.

  18. Missed calls and soft calls go every which way, depending on the game. I’ve never been one to really blame refs. Until this year. Last year was iffy a lot of times, but this year it seems to have gotten infinitely worse, all around. Good, impartial reffing seems to be a thing of the past.

  19. Are you trolling, Eck? A sell job is a conscious decision. He had zero idea a hit was coming. Even your evidence view at 46 seconds shows ghost alone at the front of the net watching the puck as Cobb skates up from behind. Also, there's no need to try and get a call. As long as he's there, he's in good position. The canes were definitely aware the refs wouldn't be giving them any leeway since they scored on a 5-3 pp. Also… that same ref and the other clown didn't call a penalty when stankoven was horsecollar pulled down from behind in the first… i guess he was diving too.

  20. So I will also add that several plays earlier in the game were missed or called when it should have been the opposite. How can Jarvis get the Wings for a high sticking penalty, but the crosscheck to Larkin's face after the face-off not be called?

  21. Anyone hockey fan that watches hockey on the regular would say this is an 100% dive because net front battles have way more (forceful) "cross-checking" and if you look at the way Ghost falls, it looks like he dove on purpose and it doesnt look like a natural getting cross checked type fall.

  22. How can you flop from a hit from behind that youre not anticipating? He does se him coming. So how does he set up a flop in the moment? Youd see a delayed reaction.

  23. Can't disagree more crosschecking is well…..crosschecking I don't have a bone in this game either.

  24. whats a "light" crosscheck? 🤔🤔 like i mean how does one decide. like when nakisian barely even touches someone, he sends them into the stands.

  25. Reminds me of when Stolarz left with an "injury" when Toronto was putting up a good fight against the Panthers in playoffs. Stolarz gets grazed by a pillow and is out on injury for months lol. You love the sport so much that you wanna get paid millions for it but then you wanna be an actor at the same time? Play the fkn sport and play to win if you make more than 100k playing a damn sport. How tf are we getting paid hundreds of thousands to do theatrical plays in front of your goalie in overtime when the other team is 4 feet away from putting it inside the net? Like hello? That's a play you make when you're down 1 or 2 goals with 5mins left. Not in overtime lmao wtf

  26. Not a dive. If you look, the contact is made as Ghost picks up his left skate, so he's only one one foot. In addition, even if you think that it IS embellishment, call both penalties.
