No. They are just working away from a better draft pick. I called months ago that they would go on a heater and miss playoffs by a single point on the last day of the season. I think that outcome is far out of reach already

Against two of the worst teams in the league, tomorrow is a scheduled loss tbh

They won’t bottom out, so make the pick as bad as possible. Just keep winning.

I know people really want to tank, and are still going on about that Boston draft pick, but let’s be realistic here.
For us to have a shot at keeping that pick, we’d have to be one of the 5 worst teams in the league. That includes the likes of the Canucks, the Flames, the Blackhawks, the Blues, the Jets, and the Rangers. The Canucks alone are nearly 20 POINTS behind us, so that’s one spot a secured miss at this point. At this moment, we’re 20th. Do you genuinely think that the Leafs are a bad enough team to secure a spot alongside THOSE teams? TRULY?
I’m all for selling to recoup assets. And making the playoffs this year has pretty firmly become a longshot at this point. I’ve even entered the « fire Berube, start looking for other GMs » train, personally. But given this franchise’s history of being paralyzed with indecision, I’d rather them at least try to win games rather than start the sell and tank when it’s too late.
Plus, while I’ve liked plenty of Treliving’s SIGNINGS, his TRADES I’ve been much less pleased with. I’m kinda worried about the prospect of a retool under Treliving at this point, even if it’s necessary.

As long as 44 is out the Leafs have a good chance to win

They are in no mans land, not bad enough for bottom 5 and not good enough for playoffs. Their best option i think is to just get rid of ufa’s at the trade deadline and play out the rest of the season with what they have.
