The Flyers deserve a lot of blame for scewing up. Gauthier being an entitled punk who wouldnt even talk to all time greats like Leclair and Sharp and refused to sign isnt one of them. You dont need to reach that hard Brodes.
Tocchet threw a 20 year old kid under the bus to try to cover his own ass. Thats now how to coach and bring along young talent. No chance its a coincidence that 2 days later Briere does a PC defending Michkov and he gets almost 16 mins of ice time after 10 on Saturday.
The mentality of the Flyers is that you have to have played for the Flyers in order to be in the front office. "The Flyer way" is nothing but a culture of losing. 1974 was 52 years ago.

Let's be real. The Flyers organization is historically bad at drafting and developing superstar talent. Over the past 50 years (since they last won a Cup) they have more players who they drafted that went on to have HOF type careers in other organizations, than who have had those kind of careers staying and playing for Philly. Aside from Lindros, who was a no-brainer pick at the top of the draft and who, you could argue, never reached his full potential playing for Philly…there's not a single other HOF player drafted and developed by the Flyers in the last half century. At a certain point, you have to face the fact that it isn't because of where the team fell in the draft order…or the occasional misfortune of a very good player dying in a car accident…it's that this franchise just doesn't know how to do the basic blocking and tackling of building a winner. It's always something with this franchise. If they are fortunate enough to have a great goalie, then they don't have enough guys to put pucks in nets on offense. If they have a good offense, then they struggle to find anyone decent to put in net. I've been following this team since they last won the Cup and it's hard to recall a season where they've been the best team in the league and the favorite to win the Cup. At best, there are a few seasons where they were AMONG the top teams and AMONG the teams with the best chance to win the Cup. It's been tough to watch because the team has such loyal and passionate fans. Ownership just seems to not respect that and feel like these people will buy tickets so long as the on-ice product plays along with the ruse…says things like "respect the logo" and "storied franchise" and "Flyers hockey" with enthusiasm for the BS that it is. We don't even need to debate it because you know how you can distinguish a "winning franchise" in the NHL? They win stuff. That ain't the Flyers. Scoreboard on that.

I’m a big Eagles and 76ers fan. Just getting into the Flyers. It seems the Flyers keep going into rebuild after rebuild. Do all the other teams keep going into numerous rebuilds to get good? What are they doing that brings them success??

Back in the Stanley Cup days for the Flyers, some people wondered if this was really a Philadelphia team. The Flyers won too many games to be considered from Philly. I guess the last fifty plus years of Flyers play make up for the early winning. They truly are a Philadelphia team.

I was a teenager when the Flyers won those Cups during the mid-70's and I had scrapbooks with tons of articles inside of them….just a HUGE fan. Nowadays I wouldn't recognize more than two of them as I've grown tired of seeing a sub-par product year after year….just lost interest. Hard to believe, Harry.
