  1. also Kane had another assist taken away by the league postgame. he's literally got more points taken away than scored over the past like 3 weeks. played a great game but he doesn't finish and nobody else finishes unless it's one slight graze of another player in between Kane and an assist.

  2. T6F is actually more important, McLellan can solidify the team defensively on a night to night basis, but even he can't replace goal-scoring, you need more players that can put the puck in the net consistently.

  3. They faced another team that never played consistently with so they don't understand the strengths and weaknesses of their opponent. This is a very young team. I give it to they're goalie.. we haven't played him enough to figure out his weaknesses. The team as a unit overall play very very well. This is the type of play I expected from a team that will be playing for the cup within a year or so. There's no doubt a shake up is coming. But I'm not sure if it will come from Grand rapids or trade. As far as trade is concerned there's really no one out there. Jason Robertson, Robert Thomas. To get the pieces we need players we love unfortunately are going to be traded.

  4. Every time the team loses, a lot of our fanbase give power to the despair demons. Let us not run to cynicism every time the team has a bad stretch (or even one bad game).
Mindsets have to change, the positives have to be just as meaningful as the negatives.
We literally shut out the best team in the league Monday and are still in a playoff position.
Stop channeling negativity/disappointment from areas of your own life into our team every chance you get.
Keep that bad-juju-lions-fan energy where it belongs 😢😅

  5. I want to believe…. But they just keep giving me reasons not too. Yzerman doesn’t want to deviate, they shit the bed at the worse times and everyone else keeps winning. Smells like another late season collapse.

  6. Oh yeah were ready .great re-sign with CHAROT 3.4 million for 3 yrs😅. Team looked fantastic after that great 1-0 win over Colorado whose been on a losing streak . I believe utah has given up 158 goals and this is how we play .I would never bet on these guys to win . I love my wings but this doing the math crap isn't going for the playoffs it's going for a draft pick plain and simple.

  7. It’s disingenuous to say Detroit is 7 points up on a wild card spot without providing the context that the Wings have played 2 more games. The potential cushion is 3 points, so yeah, start panicking. And again, this is almost exactly where they were last season when Yzerman didn’t think the team had earned a trade deadline addition, so not sure why you think Steve will make a move this season.

  8. Thats honestly horrible news. I don't have any faith in this team to hold this together and make the playoffs at this point. I'll believe it when I see it. Too many years of the same type of collapse. This is emotionally exhausting. I'm so pissed they keep doing the same shit. I'm in full blown angry and panic mode

  9. Losing four of the last 5 isn’t a good sign whatsoever. The Redwings 5 v. 5 offense was mediocre— even when they were winning. The question is ‘ are the roster’s shortcomings being exposed now?’ I don’t think we can count on Yzerman to improve it .

  10. Andrew Copp is out of his depth. He needs to be moved down to the third/fourth line (or another team). You can see the frustration on Kane's face after every shift.

At this point there's very little difference between our first and second lines, so lets see what Cat/Larkin/Raymond can do, or even Larkin between Cat and Kane. Maybe it's time to put Kasper back between Cat and Kane. What I know is that what's happening now isn't working.

Also, I think Soderblom has earned a shot at the top line. He grinds hard, wins puck battles, but then has to give the puck to Rasmussen and the play dies.

  11. The Wings will not make the playoffs! That is just a prediction, but it's based on the fact tgat they struggle to score goals, they struggle to control the puck, they struggle to get the puck out of their own end, and they are an easy time to play against because they aren't physical enough. They are a few years away from being a playoff team, but unfortunately they will need a retool because they are weak up the middle.

  12. I understand Larks retaliating, but you gotta get your money's worth not just break the guys stick

  13. I once again have to ask what Scotty's been watching. Most of our wins are hard fought, close games. Many of our losses are like tonight's, or the season opener against Montreal. Just absolutely dreadful performances where this team looks like they are lacking the most fundamental components of a winning style of play.

I firmly believe his team is not nearly as good as their record indicates. I think we'll make the playoffs, but unless some broad systemic changes are made, we are an easy out in the first round.

  14. I guarantee you after Olympic break, the Wings will tank just like after the 4 nations. Yzerman better have a better strategy at trade deadline than he has in the past years. This team needs at least two offensive forwards and a D man. I see johansson being traded unfortunately and Kasper in the mix. Kane beat Modano's record and that is all good and dandy, but it's time for him to hang up the skates. he should be on the 4th line.

  15. This whole situation HAS set up one 1 thing that can no longer be avoided by Illitch and Yzerman, March 3rd trade deadline. This is the shit or get off the pot moment.

  16. Edvinsson has already had 4 lower body injuries and various injuries before he turns 25… do we trust this guy to stay healthy and contribute when he seems to be almost as injury prone as Kirby Dach?

I mean I get it that players can't stay healthy and not everybody is an iron man — but dude, you've gotta be able to stay healthy if you're the teams best defensive dman. I look at the recent string of losses and can't help but feel like some of these goals don't happen if our often injured best dman wasn't CONSTANTLY dealing with a freaking injury.

Definitely a frustrating thing because it can't be anybody else, it has to be one of our best guys.

  17. Also, no moves being done before the roster freeze seems very ominous to me. The best players are being moved around yet again — and none of them seem to have an interest in Detroit beyond using them as a bargaining measuring stick to go to the teams they ACTUALLY want to go to.

And with this recent inconsistencies, does anybody really think Yzerman says to himself "this is our year and we will go deep. This is the year to move assets!"

Not a chance if you ask me. Everybody better be ready for Yzerman to stand pat yet again and see if we make the dance with the current roster. In my mind, changes will be coming this off season and not a second sooner.

  18. Gibby looking like the break had already started on the first one. Acting all casual like the puck had been cleared out of their end. That and Larkin’s penalty are two goals that could be easily prevented. What a brutal hole to dig yourself in right off the start.
