The team needs size and speed. The coach also seems it limit real opportunities for younger players. Best line on the ice seemed to be 92-93-42, size and speed with a solid center.

  2. Been said this forever Knoblauch is garbage coach has 0 ability to roll 4 lines and develop youth. btw him signing an extension means nothing he can be canned without any issue.

  3. Knoblauch looked good because he had Gulutzan and Coffey alongside him, now that both are gone and Knoblauch has been able to hire his own staff, we all see the glaring issues. He’s another Tippet/Woodcroft. Play 97 and 29, 25 minutes a night and hope for the best. Defensive structure is now in shambles, and the bottom 6 barely sees the ice, not to mention our young skilled players. People want to say how can we fire another coach? Well maybe get the HC position right and we won’t be seeing another coach being fired.

  4. First 10 minutes we were rolling the lines, the bottom 6 looked so good. We tie the game 2-2 and he STILL goes to leon and connor. Just destroys any flow to the game that the forwards had built, just inexcusable

  5. Why are we the only NHL Team where our coaching is trying to learn how to coach at the NHL level at our expense. I have been done with his coaching since the 2024 cup final round!

  6. Think last night game was not his fault. The first goal was a deflection. There was a couple bad changes that led to odd man rushes, but the lost because of a bad interference call on Savoie, and even worse on Janmark (he was hooked first). Having said that their inconsistency on some level is on him

  7. Olympic break is the right time to shuffle deck chairs, Chaulk up from Bakersfield interm, Coffey out of office to coach defence and special teams.Knoblauch gone . We are very close to not even making the playoffs, we come back from olympic break and are on the road in Aneheim, L.A. and San Jose this could make or break us.

  8. Knoblock never had the goddamn room. It was his assistant coaches that had the room. I don't think he's a very good coach to be honest with you changing the lineups all the goddamn time it's ridiculous. Why don't you stick with the line for more than one game you dumbass you might win some more than three in a row. For Christ sakes get somebody who knows how to play defense.

  9. Overall performance isn't ever 'just a coaching issue', we all know that. It boils down to defence, goaltending, forwards, wingers…AND coaching. The players are the ones controlling the game, they always need to perform at their best. Knoblauch is just lazy. Draisaitl and McDavid produce, so he leans on them to win games, however, that is a double edged sword because they can't always produce, which is why you have other lines and not just 4 players on a team. Knoblauch needs to understand this and while at the same time can't switch lines around every single game. A smart(er) coach would identify chemistry early on and perhaps work 1-2 different combos if players are hurt. No other Team relies as heavily as Knobloch does on their superstars. Eventually they will get burned out, which is why we lose every second or third game.

  10. I think no longer having Gulutzan and Coffey hurts a lot. Would a different head coach change help? Probably a bit. A lot of it is management. Stan Bowman has made some questionable decisions to be sure. This Skinner and Kulak for Jarry and Poulin trade is the worst trade the Oilers have done since Smyth for Nilsson and O’Marra. I’m not saying Skinner is a great goaltender or that Kulak was a world beater defencemen, but they’re better than these guys we got. The return was not good enough.

  11. This isn't anything against coach Chris. But this group of Oilers have always responded well to a new coach. You want to make a deep run into the playoffs. Fire the coach and get a new one right before the playoffs start. It's a lock.

  12. It's not the coaching , it's the players. Ekholm is old, Bouchard is a liability, Nurse is overpaid and lackadaisical.

  13. Knoblauch is in an impossible position. The top players perform at such a high level how can he not play them? If he stapled McDraiMan to the bench for an extra 4 minutes per game, people would be up in arms wondering why he doesn't play his best players. It would be similar to playing only the second unit PP so they can get better. That would be tough to justify – especially after a loss. Every Oilers coach has operated the same way because there is no acceptable way out of it. Having said that, I do think that the loss of Gulutzen and Coffey has been detrimental. Last year it seemed that every time Knoblauch turned on the line blender he got a Margarita. This year he's just getting a pitcher of shit mix.

  14. How many coaches have we gone thru its not the Damm coaching they are grown was men then should know Wtf the need to do when there out there unfortunately my opinion they need to get rid of some fire power up front and put a solid net minder in there that's the major issue and we will not see a Stanley cup untill there is a real goalie in that net

  15. The only time McD plays with Drai should be PP. They each have a good line. If anything, you bench Frederic for life and double shift them alternately. Knoblauch sucks as a coach though, kinda hoped we would sign Tochett

  16. From an outsider point of view…..when a coach is in charge of possibly the top 2 NHL players in the world , combined with possibly the most over rated and over payed two defenceman on any team in the NHL…..Nurse and Bouchard…..his hands are tied….he is being employed by his GM to play these guys huge mins…..I truly believe that when your payroll is tied up with 4 players…..ie Leafs….Oilers ….you are asking for other problems….like locker room clashes…like player coach relationships….and most of all….the fatigue of the 4 players over the long season and playoffs. If you think the oilers are playing the top top 4 salaries to much, it’s only because their supporting cast can not get their job done. This is a vicious circle of discontent and is on management more than
Coach. He can only do so much with the line up he is given…..They have zero talent below their top 6 and average goaltending at best. 6 players , no matter how good they are , can not win a Stanley cup. Look at the rosters of every team in the last 15 cup winning teams. I would argue that zero of those teams ever had the best player in the league at any of their positions….deep teams win cups and top heavy teams always get dismantled at some
Point before they win a cup.

  17. Lmfao " Out coached his way to two cup finals " . . . I recall McDavid saying " were out their doing the same things over and over banging our heads against a wall " , or how about Knobgobbler putting Nurse+Ceci back together to start against Florida after they were THE most victimized pairing in playoff history ? Ever seen the guy touch a white board during a time out ? The guys a f'n marionette . . .

  18. Knoblauch is only here because McDavid wants him. He’s not a good coach. He’s inconsistent in his lines. He holds young players accountable and old vets consistently make the same mistakes. And lastly he picks who gets scratched and who plays, those decisions have cost us a bunch of games. We absolutely have a coaching issue.
