Edmonton, like the Leafs over the last few years have not been good defensively, but are usually able to out score their deficiencies. But both teams are finding it’s not sustainable and that ultimately defense wins championships!
Florida and Edmonton both just looked gassed to me…. Back to back Finals can do that. .. 3 for FLA….
I think Edmonton needs to trade everything and rebuild.

This season show that making it back to the SCF 3 times in a row is pretty remarkable indeed. The fact that Tampa and Florida did it at all shows just how good they are. Frankly the fact that Tampa was able to make it a tight series with Colorado in their last run at all is pretty crazy.
Worse than the Jarry deal is the Frederic deal.
We also lost a leader in Perry.

Just for clarification, Ingram was playing like complete dog water in the AHL when they made that trade and it wasn’t until Jerry got hurt that he came up and played well, but there was no indication that he was going to play well at the time

Not an Oilers fan, but you're acting like they're 10-45-3 so far. They're 6th in the Western Conference, currently. Just because they made the Stanley Cup Finals two years in a row,: they should just be gifted the Stanley Cup this year?
Eats bread is a cap dump, not a sweetener. He chose not to sign in Toronto. A couple seconds to take on a worse winger and get them out of cap trouble isn't great.

Why would TOR willingly take on EDM's garbage players for a couple of their own impact players? You guys are dumb.
EDM has been 'bad' because their so-called captain doesn't exactly foster a positive work atmosphere, leading to MULTIPLE impact players not only not signing for bargain deals to stay on with EDM, but choosing to sign elsewhere entirely. N.Bjugstad, W.Foegele, P.Broberg, R.McLeod, C.Perry. And the list goes on. They literally don't have nor can they afford to ice a CAPABLE bottom 6. This coupled with the fact Mcbaby took league MAX on his contract for next year, leaves them little no no wiggle room to bolster the roster.
I wonder which player is gonna bail on Mcbaby and his motley crew of soilers next?

I feel like a lot of the biggest issues the Oilers have should be fixable by the coaching staff. What's killing them more than anything is poor decision making and lack of focus and effort. We saw it in the game against Pittsburgh, sloppy giveaway after sloppy giveaway, serving up absolute pizzas, the last d-man coughing up the puck too easily.
It's bad enough that the Canucks are paying Ekman-Larsson to play in Toronto, but to pay him to play in Edmonton would be worse!🤣
