@Panthers de la Floride

    I’m trying to make sense of this. I’ve read too much back and forth. I’m tired today and didn’t have my coffee this morning.

    Does this mean we keep our pick this year?

    Blackhawks have now confirmed this is true.

    That’s crazy that we’re just hearing about this now. I don’t think anyone was aware of this–even PuckPedia always listed the pick as unprotected (until today).

    This has massive ramifications. The worst possible result would be to finish this season with the 11th-16th pick, i.e. just missing the playoffs but still losing a relatively high draft pick to Chicago.

    I know people hate hearing the dreaded « T » word…but considering how injury-ravaged we are, how many teams we have to leapfrog to make the playoffs, and the fact that Barkov would be joining any potential playoff run super rusty (if he came back at all)…honestly, it’s an easy decision for me. I think you secure a top 10 pick and live to fight another day.

    I’d feel differently if we didn’t look completely outmanned these last few games, but it’s hard to see this roster in its current injury-plagued state making a serious cup run.

    In r/hockey the tone seems to indicate that they think this is some kind of conspiracy because it wasn’t widely reported at the time. Very normal stuff!

    Mixed emotions. I don’t really want to tank, I really hate to lose. But, it will probably hurt a lot less with this as a possibility.
