I think that if Montreal wants to acquire Kyrou, they have to deal Laine's entire cap hit because they have no cap space otherwise, and they likely don't want to send him to a last-place team. Therefore, Carolina is the only contender who can swallow Laine's entire contract.
Also Carolina and the Habs kinda don’t like each other, doesn’t matter if it’s different management, the offer sheet shenanigans and all that.
If Mpntreal gets anything for Laine, it’s a total win, the Habs already got a 2nd for him … anything like a 4th-7th round pick would be great.
If better this will end up being a Monahan (light) situation, a Hughes master class.
