It always hurts seeing Devils having success elsewhere

I am not thinking about why we got rid of him as his play was beyond abysmal during his last season here. I will always be thankful for how he played against the Rags in the playoffs though.

He’s playing amazing

Not for a second. He made some good saves but also has been leaky, I don’t know why he didn’t squeeze the pipe vs mcdavid. Marky and Allen are better. That said I want gold for Akira.

Because we had 4 NHL caliber tendies on our team, and the management chose daws over schmid.. it’s really close between them, and still is IMO, but daws is probably on his way out too by next season iihtg

Akira was given a run to prove he was a number one goalie and failed. He’s also for all intents and purposes the current number one in Vegas and he’s not doing great when playing in front of a team known for its defense.
Akira will always be a perfect example of a great backup. He can’t be relied on as your number one, but he will definitely steal some games here and there.

He seems to show up in big games but hasnt shown the ability to play well consistently

Schmid was overall not good for us, and we have a more reliable backup in Jake Allen right now.

I hated that trade because of his inclusion. I didn’t mind losing Holtz

Schmid is .895 on a good team, he is just another guy. Problem wasn’t letting him go, it was replacing him with a worse and more expensive goalie
Sky-Soldier0430
We might not improved much in goaltending since, but there’s no way we keep him after that season. I also wouldn’t say he’s doing great. I guess if he starts in the playoffs he could prove something, but he’s better as a backup.

I was and still am a MASSIVE fan of his. I think he can be a quality starter in this league. We definitely gave up on him far too early.

I always liked him and felt the team just bailed on him during the Carolina playoff series we lost and decided not to stick with him.
