Yeah, I knew that Kaiser’s absence meant that Korchinski would get an extended look: both are smaller-ish dmen who are mobile and move the puck. Kaiser is just a better all-round player than Korchinski is at this time. For better or worse, the team will now see what it has in him. I hope that he shows that he’s massively improved from his rookie year and can lay claim to a spot on the blue line next year.
In Rinzel’s case, so far in his limited time up he’s shown that he still needs some work with his defense (mostly with knowing how to angle attackers into the boards) and needs to put on some weight still. But I still like what I see, and it is now apparent that his drop off in play was from a drop in confidence, not suckage. I hope he can maintain what momentum he’s gotten since coming up again.
Also, Rinzel being called up tells me one of two things: either Levshunov won’t start with the team after the break, or Murphy will be traded as soon as the rosters unfreeze.

I think it would be wise to send Lev down-we couldn’t during the break because there was a rule about if you played 16 of the previous 20 nhl games prior to the break, but letting him capitalize on his reset/fundamentals work at the AHL level with ample time between games could pay serious dividends.

Sad for Kaiser but happy Korch is getting another look! Hopefully he steps up and shows some real growth since his last stint now that he likely has a bit of a longer leash

Big chance for Korch. Hope he takes advantage of it

I’m surprised they recalled them so early considering it’s a full week until play resumes. Rather selfishly I would’ve loved to have had Korch & Rinzel stay in Rockford thru the weekend (I’m going to Saturday’s game).

Goodbye Murphy.

Was expecting EDM be brought up to pair with Arty over Korch, excited to see them back. The Piggies are gonna miss them though.
