Gotta love these cherry picked advanced stats.
And Hedman got injured in warmup after the game roster was already finalized. They couldn’t swap him out at that point.
11 chances, one of the most in Sweden only 2g to show for it. Then only 1 chance assist. Sums it up well, he doesnt drive anymore, needs someone to drive for him and even then he’s snakebit. Raymond was by far the best player on the team.
Chances/60 is always skewed and favors players with less toi. Like forsberg and bratt are 4 and 5 respectively. Nylander 1, raymond 3 with much more toi which checks out.
You can check at hockeystats
Sweden just never got going this year
I’m not saying that petey is amazing and his deployment made him look bad. I am saying Swedens coach made a lot of questionable decisions with the whole lineup
The tragedy is that Petey is an insanely talented hockey player. I just don’t know if we can build the right team around him before it’s too late.
…I’ve never seen a more coddled player in my life.
Those advanced stats will surely bubble to the top soon… just two more weeks
Led the tournament in back hand sauce passes under 12 inches but above 8, in the offense zone, on days that had 40% humidity after 11 am.
Hallam made some decisions for sure. I’ve never seen a forward (Bratt) get their entire ice time in the third, after being benched for two periods.
Petey’s line was also one of the better forward lines and they never saw the ice in the third. I don’t know why Hallam kept sending out Landeskog, especially in overtime.
According to 32T the olympics make you submit your lineups much earlier than the NHL, which is why Hedman was on it despite being injured in warmup
The rest of the coaching decisions… yeah I got nothing
I’ve given up on Waldo completely.
Sweden coach must have been ripping the highest possible strength Zyns with those decisions. Buddy was on cloud 99.
Sam Hallam making Adam Foote look like Stephen Hawking
Petey has been done since the beginning of the year and a couple games in the Olympic was never going to be anything special. He played the role they assigned him, that’s it. Imagine all this dialogue for a third line player …
Anyways, I still hope he can put it together next year.
Guy scored two goals in one game calm down. He is still grossly underperforming on his contract. Fri
Whatever reason.
My dad is going to hate these stats.
Hall of Very Good
I just want to thank Sweden’s coach for ensuring that this sub has another 6-12 months worth of data to argue over.
He’s a good side piece.
At what point do we as a collective stop falling for this stuff. No matter how you slice and dice advanced stats there is not a single elite forward in this league who gets paid 10M+ to put up 60 points. There has to be an end result and he hasn’t delivered for 2 years.
Cant believe the played landeskog for 20 minutes what the hell was that coach smoking lol
The thing about all the Petey truthers though is if he was really the elite player we remember, we wouldn’t have to squint so hard to convince ourselves. It would be plainly evident.
Ultimately, I think Petey needs to be converted to wing. In today’s NHL, to play center you need to be fast or strong to impose your own pace on the game, and Petey is neither.
Petey profiles much closer to Kucherov or Stone than he does to any top center. He doesn’t need to be as fast and responsible on the wing. As a playmaking, scoring winger, he’d play closer to his strengths.
PETEY IS THE TRUTH HE COULD NEVER BE THE ISSUE ITS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE!!!!
Yeah but he doesn’t look flashy enough.
