Great challenge by Finnish coach. Also impossible for officials to reverse that goal. What a game

  2. Formal-Level8070

If that goal got overturned and then somehow Finland won it in 3v3 overtime it would’ve been carnage on the timelines. lol

  3. Mecha75

I was rooting for Finland, but that was the right call. The puck looks like it next to the skate in the pic, but it as actually on its way to Celebrini to the left of the player with both skates on the blue line. The puck is over while Celebrini’s skate is shaving the blue line smother than his baby face.

  4. ChuckEnder

On the replay across ice, you can see him twist his ankle just slightly to keep his heal over the blue line. Crazy close. Props to him.

  5. NorthernShark93

I love you Finn bros, great game as always.

  6. useyourname11

There is no white seen between the skate blade and blue line. Your screengrab actually shows they got the call right.

  7. bearamongus19

Right call but part of me wanted them to overturn it just so we can get OT

  8. Saferis

It’s close, but ultimately not absolutely conclusive, and without that you can’t overturn the call on the ice. Especially for a goal at this time frame.

  9. HairlessDaddy

Lucky it doesn’t factor in the rocker on his skate blade.

  10. YungBeefaroni

Puck don’t lie. We keep moving.

  11. Mother_Gazelle9876

please eliminate replay for offsides! We are going back over a minute and zooming in on a skate blade…..for what? Its still not 100% conclusive.

  12. RustyRapeaXe

Rooting for the Fins, but that wasn’t offsides, as much as I would have hoped it was.

  13. Illustrious-Ad-6165

Actually a good freeze frame showing that it was in fact not offside

  14. Sdgrevo

Definitely onside, definitely super close. A good attempt with 35 seconds left.

  15. Swiftwitss

The Winter Olympics is all I’ll watch because of hockey and this year has been an insane series

  16. squid_princess_99

If only the ice was…….. 4 feet longer 🤔

  17. Constant-Squirrel555

Refs could’ve done the most stress inducing thing ever by calling that offside lol

  18. jfmass84

Close, but the puck is in the middle of his skate both on this frame and the frame after. This means that in between the frames his skate was still on the line while the puck was in the zone.

Seems to be about 2 cm of skate behind the puck.

It’s very close, but still good.

  19. Altruistic-Fox4625

It’s inconclusive in my opinion and therefore the call on the ice stands correctly.

  20. TheHip41

You can’t get closer that. I ref little kids and even looking at this. Who knows

Skate on line. Puck is also touching line still? Or maybe it isn’t

Just impossible to overturn that goal with this evidence.

  21. Duece09

As close as it gets….not enough video evidence. Had it been called offsides initially same thing would’ve happened. It would not have been overturned.

  22. CaptEthos

Generational heel drag, what can’t this kid do?

  23. biff_jordan

Oh man it’s gonna suck to cheer for the Canucks again once the Olympics are over.

  24. Long-Definition-8152

These are the type of offsides calls I would love to see unchallengeable. I get it’s a zone entry but it had almost no effect on the play that occurred after. Call it on the ice and leave it be, would’ve been a catastrophic embaressment for hockey if this was overturned-an American

  25. SinfulSquid332

Blade is still on the line sorry bud

  26. Gorgofromns

Close as close can be but still onside.

  27. Frankenreich

Never taking that skate-drag ability for granted again…

  28. MrTwatFart

I’d love a few frames before this also.

  29. LunarWildfey

I don’t watch hockey can someone hold my hand through what I’m looking at here

  30. tortured_fanclub

Thats way to close to overturn a goal of that magnitude.

  31. Topcornbiskie

Can we get rid of this challenge? If it’s that close, it’s not an advantage.

  32. dprouse52

In this photo the puck is already over the line anyway, so the position of Celebrini’s skate is irrelevant. Sucks to you Finland…

  33. phreakzilla85

This might be very sadistic of me, but I really want to see something like this happen in a Cup clinching scenario. Team A scores an OT goal and celebrates like crazy, but wait! Team B issues a challenge for offside (like this, crazy close) but it’s *just enough* evidence to overturn the goal. Chaos ensues.

Bonus chaos if it happens in Game 7 OT and Team B ends up winning afterwards.

  34. Anyawnomous

Anything this close should just be allowed. This was not in the spirit of the rule change.
