I loved watching Celly this tournament and he massively over performed expectations for a 19 year old. But I’m also not going to pretend he didn’t whiff on a few Grade A chances in this game that should have netted CA the gold. I’m sure he is not at all happy with his performance. I’m just hoping he brings that back as renewed motivation.

He had a huge amount of pressure on him for a teenager and proved to the world he deserved to be there. He will probably have 3 or 4 more chances to take the gold medal in his lifetime.

I’m absolutely thrilled at how this tournament went for Mack. He made himself a household name and I’m sure made a bunch of new Sharks fans. I’m gutted for him though, the opportunity to be the hero was there and it didn’t happen. He’s going to be in a lot of big moments internationally and in the Stanley Cup playoffs going forward in the years to come.

As a Canadian I am not even that bummed about this loss (yes, obviously it really sucks to lose) because I am more excited about Canada’s future. I think both team USA and Canada have extremely exciting futures, and I cannot wait to see this rivalry continue for the next 20 years.
