    Honestly I saw this coming. The Canadian were undoubtedly the better team on paper and played well in their games but the Americans just felt like they had more drive.

    Would have been happy for Nylander and OEL if the Swedes had beat us. I don’t have it in me to be happy for the US right now in any context.

    I don’t care that Canada lost. MacKinnon had the game on his stick and blew it. Few minutes later Hellebuyck made an absolutely insane stick save. Canada had chances to win and blew it.

    Now as a Leafs fan, it will be funny watching how no one in the future will mention Matthews captained Team USA to gold ever again. It doesn’t fit the anti-Leafs narrative.

    I wanted to cry for the players’ disappointment but what are we collectively saddling them with? Isn’t it clear that we have allowed our emotional reaction to one man dominate our whole country and our feelings toward our incredibly amazing young players?

    I cannot wait until the leafs trade Matthews someday. I wish all Americans good riddance from our Canadian teams. We don’t need them at all. Sure, they are great players but isn’t everyone so tired of the immaturity? And is there one single American player that isn’t replaceable? None of them will ever be the caliber of what Canada breeds. I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion these days. That locker room video after the gold medal, the presser….gross. Gross.
