Because Ovechkin crunched him into the boards for no good reason in November. He was playing well before that. He hasn’t played well after. Not much to figure out

Crazy isn’t it that after clamoring to have Lindy fired for 2 seasons, Devils fans want him back lol
Whatever Keefes doing isn’t working, that’s clear, it’s still on players to perform in my opinion. It’s blatantly obvious that he needs to be shooting the puck more, like he’s got 20 more gp this year than Jack and trails him by 3 sog. That’s the wildest stat I’ve come across. Between Bratt, Fitz and Keefe there needs to be a conversation about usage, because he’s paid too much to be a 50 point guy on a roster this talented

Yep, all roads lead back to the coach. Get Keefe out of here.

Bratt I have a feeling it is something more personal . The hit by ovi was big but enough time has passed that either he says he is not right or he shows some improvement. Now I’m speculating of course but it seems he’s always bothered by something more than physical

One factor has to be Jack’s injuries. Bratt is way more productive when playing with Jack, not just because of the skill, but I believe it’s the amount of time they’ve played together. Jack knows where he is, just like Dougie.
I definitely believe Keefe is a problem. The whole team has dropped off with him. Keefe breaks up hot lines, or doesn’t keep people with each other consistently. Yes, that is difficult with injuries and what not, but he has not kept hot lines together.
I’m positive that Bratt still can turn it around. I hope he’s not playing too injured.

I’ve thought for a while that there’s some emotional driver. That could be discontent with the coach, discontent with the culture of the team, or something social leaking into the dressing room. I vote coach, but …
This team’s drop off reminds me of the early 1990s Oilers, where Tommy Salo found out his wife had been hooking up with Mike Comrie, confronted her about it, and she bolted back to Sweden with their kids. Salo went from productive to a shell of a human being overnight. The affair completely destroyed the morale of the dressing room, too, and it wasn’t until both players were moved along that the team recovered. They ended up on a tear that nearly had them in the playoffs, but before that, it was woeful indeed.
