I was not aware Cocksucker was gender specific, or a homophobic slur. Just thought it was a colourful insult/swear.

  2. Gold_Telephone_7192

Probably because “cocksucker” is not considered a slur. I understand the logic behind why it could be, but it’s not something that has been considered a slur or homophobic by general society.

  3. pegger24

Plenty of reasons to dislike this guy…this really isn’t one of them.

  4. kuiperbeltbuckle

They accidentally put quotes around ‘sorry’ instead of ‘slur’?

    What was Rackof GoodAss thinking??

  5. 1977john

Why do people try so hard to be unnecessarily offended?

  6. DontStepOnMyManHood

I haven’t been keeping track of all the new off limit words lately.

    C*ck****** is now prohibited?

  7. michael_scarn17

Women suck cock too. It’s not a gay slur. Its just saying you suck cock.

  8. Ok-Working3714

This reminds me when I got a 10 game suspension for saying a slur on the ice. I called a kid “inbred” my dad argued that anybody of any race or origin can be inbred and it’s not a slur. Got reduced to zero games.

  9. CoconutBangerzBaller

It’s not like he called him a Jive Turkey

  10. Quijijinji

Didn’t Corey Perry get suspended for this?

    Edit: Wait no. Getzlaf

  11. 07Ghost_Protocol99

That is not a homophobic slur lol

  12. EducationalPlay6269

Next they’re going to get mad about “bastard”because some people are bastard children.

  13. vanillamostly_

At least he didn’t say jive turkey

  14. Jaysen608

Don’t get me wrong FUCK Gudas. But Cocksucker is not a slur

  15. DFVSUPERFAN

Who cares? Why is this even a story? If anything i’m amused that the best he could come up with after 16 years in the show is « oh I didn’t know what it meant. »

I was in a restaurant workplace about a decade ago and got furious over a guest. When I went to the kitchen I grumbled something about that « c***sucker at table X. » I got a few immediate shouts and laughs, but I sensed some disapproval. Then a gay coworker said something like « I’m glad someone is doing it. » Got a good laugh. Nobody ever scolded me about it, but I got the subtext. The implication of the phrase is that sucking dicks is something to be mocked. It’s certainly not an aggressive anti-gay slur in the way that many others are, but it perpetuates the idea that gay activity is bad. I’m not here to tell anyone what to think or do. I just thought I’d share my little story and say that I don’t use that one anymore.

Al Swearengen just fell to his knees at the Gem. If we can’t say cocksucker can we say hooplehead?

  18. Affectionate_Past_39

    “Swedgin, cocksucker!!”

Deadwood heads in tatters over this news -_-

  19. Cocksucker is not sexuality specific and I will fight this to the death.

  20. red_button_pusher

I asked my gay friend if he felt that “cocksucker” is a slur. He called me a “penis toucher” for just for asking.

  21. Bitter-Assignment464

Now there are insult and profanity police now? Good lord.

Good thing he didn’t call him a dirty cock sucker. We don’t want to insult the unbathed gay community.

  22. NineMillionBears

I’ve been called a lot of hateful things in my life specifically for being queer, « cocksucker » is not one of them lol

  23. solivagant_jim

Gay people should definitely stop gatekeeping and acting as if only they can suck cocks.

  24. Uffda01

I’m a gay dude. I was bartending in a really redneck bar years ago – everybody knew I was gay; we were playing dice and I won the round….somebody called me a dirty cocksucker…. I responded no – I took a shower that day…

Everybody was laughing their asses off because that dude didn’t have a response. He didn’t mean it homophobically and I wasnt offended.

« Few had noticed Gudas yelling the gay slur at the time, but some sleuthing on social media, including by Outsports editor Jon Holmes, brought it to light. A week later, Gudas is finally answering for it. »

This is the weirdest part of the story for me. Doesn’t that read like the editor was fishing and trying to find something offensive? Like we’re going through game audio with a fine toothed comb trying to look for reasons to be mad? I don’t know if this is the right way to go about things. I’m sure the editor means well and is trying to be helpful

  26. tacothedevourer

Good thing he didn’t call him a Jive turkey, he’d be in so much more trouble

  27. Killroy_jenkins

    >Few had noticed Gudas yelling the gay slur at the time, but some sleuthing on social media, including by Outsports editor Jon Holmes, brought it to light. A week later, Gudas is finally answering for it.

Finally answering for it? Like he’s a murderer or something?

    >Jon Holmes is a London-based British sports journalist and editor specializing in LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports.

Being named Jon Holmes and writing an article about someone being a cocksucker is kind of ironic if you’ve ever heard a male Adult Actor of the same name.

  28. JauntyGiraffe

Since when is cocksucker a slur?

Everyone can suck dicks. Some even entire bags

  29. BowsersBigshell

Should’ve called him a jive turkey instead

  30. themoy08

lot of people in the world need to watch the Harley rider south park episode

  31. RavingRationality

    > Even the word cocksucker itself has been twisted out of all its original meaning. It’s been distorted; for some reason, now « COCKSUCKER! » means « bad man ». It’s a good woman. How did they do that?

    ~ George Carlin
