This Leafs era really ended the moment Shanny hired this goof. Although Shanny is a goof for giving one of the most coveted jobs in hockey to some never won anything in Calgary.
My philosophy for the trade deadline and the summer is every player that isn’t Matthews/Knies/Nylander/McCabe/Woll/Cowan should be actively shopped.
Trade everyone you can – OEL, McMann, Laughton, Carlo, Benoit, Domi, Stecher, Stolarz, Lorentz.
Maccelli and Robertson I would lean keep but I’m not married to them.

I was adamant on not trading away too many pieces at the deadline – maybe McMann, the corpse of Jarnkrok – because we still need competent players for next season and the Free Agent class is really dry.
However, it’s become too obvious the system and mix of players just isn’t enough. We aren’t a few role players away – we’re a #2 center and 2 or 3 mobile defensemen away.
