I don’t really care if these are « PR » answers, these are the correct things to say for them. A double down or dismissal of the issue would’ve annoyed me a lot more.

  2. Slight-Philosophy470

Of course he doesn’t. He believes boys will be boys is an acceptable excuse. He went on Fox News. He has never had to work for anything or challenge any of his views. Proving all the memes of him being dumb are correct.

  3. Alfie_For_Owner

This is called taking responsibility and personal growth from Jake.

Brady not having *any* answer is ridiculous. His agent, Sens PR, fuck the NHLPA should have told him « Hey bud, after all the equality nights we run you might wanna apologize for that or it kinda makes the league look like it’s run by a bunch of massive hypocrites. »

  4. barrylunch

You can’t be in control of what somebody else says, but you are in control of what you do in response.

  5. Thriving_Crooner

“BRADY JUST PAWN IN GAME OF LIFE” — Brady

  6. Ok_Compote_8826

Happy “Women in Sports” night tonight, folks. Embarrassing from our captain..

  7. cwnorman

This was a shitty joke said by a shitty person and the players got caught in the crossfire during a very boisterous celebration.

  8. felicityrorys

“I don’t really have an answer” is an answer in itself.

  9. Inkantrix

    Cowards. Obsequious snivelling little twits.

The men’s team was not an Olympic team. It was an All-Star team, made a professional hockey athletes.

The women’s team is the real Olympic team. They won Gold and then had to go back to their day jobs.

I hope whoever raised these men is dying of shame.

Brady responses is just horseshit…….sure trump can be a dick….but you dont need to validate that. They laughed along with their shit eatings grins having a great time. IF they had any character, the response would have been different – but then again, but do you expect from a ogre

  11. Character_Truth1094

Love how when it’s outside of the locker room they try to behave and reflect the 🤷🏽 attitude

  12. They are all being cowards but it’s also funny how they miss the fact that they know what Trump said was wrong.

  13. InfiniteSlap

This guy sounds like if it wasn’t for hockey he would be working for ICE.

  14. Some players have chosen to apologize (respect to them), while others have doubled down, showing us who they really are.

  15. Own-Eye6145

As a hockey writer and hockey fan (including the women’s game) I was pretty upset with the way the men reacted. But reading this I have a little respect for Sanderson, who showed some form of growth with his response. Don’t exactly know how to feel about the « blown out of proportion part » but I like that Sanderson actually admitted it was a mistake and showed respect for the women’s team.

  16. ouattedephoqueeh

Brady – this isn’t how you lead.

  17. Drekkan85

Has anyone actually said « I’m sorry ». Like I’ve heard people walking it back. I’ve heard people saying « it was a mistake » or justifying it per the above « I was swept up in emotion ».

But did anyone say « No guys, we were really wrong to do that. There’s no excuse and I’m sorry. I got swept up, but that was wrong and I fully apologize for what I did »? No qualifications. no « this is blown out of proportion ». Just a forthright ownership of the screw up?

  18. albynomonk

Glad to see these guys being called out for their actions.

  19. AbbreviationsDue4417

All these Trump lovers can go fuck themselves. They did not have to go to see the lying, murdering pedophile. The women’s hockey team showed self respect! These bozos did not!!!!

  20. BartleBossy

Laughing at a joke a pedo makes is nowhere near as bad as going to his fucking house and letting him trot your around.

I refuse to let this discourse become about whether or not its okay to laugh at a joke.

  21. dzuunmod

Someone needs to ask them directly about the implications of supporting a guy who wants to annex this country.

  22. DoubleAEh

Good on Jake. Also I fully believe the excuse of I honestly didnt understand how bad some things are.

A lot of people are just uninformed

  23. 2Strokefever

Why TF would you want to associate with a Kash Pedo Protector and the King of Pedos in the Epstein file. This should have never happened

  24. Mosh4days

I give them a pass for laughing at that moment, i completely get what he’s saying about just reacting in the whirlwind of the moment I don’t think they meant any harm and I believe most people would have responded the same.

What i can’t give him a pass for is the decision to go meet the pedophile and rapist in Chief while gleefully standing behind him with a shit eating grin. That was a decision he had time to think about. Very different.

  25. momdoc2

I haven’t seen the whole interview – did he actually apologize? Or was it all this deflection nonsense?

  26. Single_Cup_3367

I missed what was said about the women’s team. Anybody willing to fill me in?

  27. TL19957

Shitty joke by their president, minutes after probably experiencing the biggest adrenaline dump any of them have ever had.

The joke isn’t funny, isn’t clever, isn’t anything, their laugh to me seemed as more if a polite time filler for trump to keep talking instead of them genuinely laughing.

I think this entire thing has been blown out of proportion.

  28. no-email-please

This is the greatest accomplishment of their lives and are they supposed to say “Hold it right there drumpf, don’t you dare disrespect the women’s team”?

If Carney calls me to congratulate me on anything it’s “yes sir, thank you sir” and maybe the next day I’ll be able to say “wait a minute… what did he say?”

  29. Hefty-Comparison-801

Getting caught off guard means you react the way you feel, instead of how you know you should react.

Not surprising from a mushroom dick rider.

  30. WorkThrowOtt

« It just caught us off guard talking to the president »

How is that anybody than « Things got blown out of proportion »
Sanderson is the one saying you are all over reacting, but you’re still shitting on the Captain.

This is bullshit misleading headline, because he did have an answer, and it had as much substance as Sanderson’s but you headline makes it look like Brady declined to answer. This is no better than some cheap click bait shit.

I bet 5% of people here would turn down the chance to go to the White House after winning the gold medal. Its currently a POS representing the country, yes, but they went to the white house, they didn’t go to Trump’s cottage or anything. They were honored by their country

  31. senturion

No matter how ignorant you are of current affairs and politics, it is not credible that these guys don’t know what a sack of shit Trump is

  32. Ok_Weather139

I can appreciate what Brady is saying, but all you have to say afterwards is, « It was wrong, and we shouldn’t have done it. » He can qualify it however he wants, but you have to take accountability.

  33. saabzternater

It’s going to be a breath of fresh air when this is stopped being brought up.

  34. fantasygot

Can everyone just move on from this ? Sens are back tonight, let’s get behind our team instead of vilifying them for something pretty meaningless. I’m pretty confident Jake Sanderson is a good person. I’m pretty confident Brady Tkachuk is a good person. Yes they are American. Yes they visited with the president of their country after winning gold (probably a lifelong childhood dream for any athlete). Heck they may even be republican.

That doesn’t mean you should immediately hate them, never support the sens again, and completely turn on these great players on our team.

Everyone needs to stop being so divisive and hating everyone for their own personal views. That just furthers the divide. Being a right-leaning American does not mean you’re a pedophile, racist, sexist, mysoginistic person lol can we all just agree that that’s a crazy stance. I hope I speak for most sane people when I say that I truly could care less if they are patriotic Americans. People need to be more centrist and less dramatic, world would be better off if both sides met in the middle more often.

  35. sobe33139

All Tkachuks are wholly deficient beings. Despicable.

  36. DanfromCalgary

This is such a tiny thing to be upset with that guy for . Like he’s burning that country to the ground, gutted most of the government and tens of billions of dollars are missing… and this is what you want to lead with lol

  37. Accurate-Many6850

Has no one ever awkwardly laughed along with a joke you knew was terrible because you know that you’re talking to an unhinged mob boss who could snap his fingers and ruin your life?

Sure, ok, maybe not the best analogy – but same energy. What were they supposed to do, point a finger in his face and tell him no in a really loud, pointed tone?

Some of the guys likely genuinely found that funny, I think the majority of them were uncomfortable and laughed because that’s clearly what he wanted them to do, and they had to keep up appearances.

  38. LuckyJee

Jake said sorry. Brady did not.

    My life hasn’t changed.

Move on. Or, are you too perfect. Put it to rest “you people”. Haha
