The bottom is just so bad that I don’t think they can make it. Up to the balls. They’re not going to catch van, STL, NYR, CHI, CGY and unlikely to catch the jets either. Everyone else is capable on going on a run and passing the leafs, but they would pretty much have to almost lose out to make top 5 and their goalies will steal enough games to probably make it impossible.

We don’t need to get rid of Matthews & Nylander. We just need to retool around them properly. JT is great don’t get me wrong, but his age is starting to show. That’s why we need a new 2C. Preferably a 200ft playmaker type. This team cannot and will not get it done. It can’t stay the same. You absolutely cannot trade Tavares. No chance. Move him to 3C if anything, but nah he can’t be dealt.
Morgan Reilly is not the problem. The problem is he’s our best defensemen. We NEED a new top 2 offensive defensemen. Can’t think of anyone off the top of my head. Ideally someone like Quinn Hughes (I get Quinn Hughes isn’t realistic, but I mean that’s the type we need).
Also fire management & coaching staff into the fucking sun. Berube after the trade deadline but Tre first day after the season ends.
This team seems to have absolutely no chemistry. Do they even do team dinners? Christ… when the jays locked in in the second half of the season/playoffs they had a lot of “power of friendship” guys and those guys all dug the fuck in and played with so much heart. They propelled the offense even on days where vladdy & bichette weren’t great. That’s what we need from them. When Matthews & Nylander are bad you know about it because the rest of the team likely played as bad if not worse. Plus, and don’t get me wrong I love Nylander, but I think he’s selfish. Fantastic player, but he wants to be the guy that makes all the plays. I find he overplays things A LOT. Especially recently with the Rodrigues breakaway & a few times tonight when we were in the offensive zone; he would be covered heavily, try to force a play & give up a high danger chance going the other way.
I pray and pray and pray for a top 5 pick this year. But I know how this goes we’ll get 6 & give it up to Boston.

I kept asking when the Marner stuff was happening. If we can’t trade him because he has a no movement clause, then what? I never got a good answer from anyone. The results show, you took a 90 – 100 point a year player off your team and replaced him with nothing. And so we became the 2024 Miami Dolphins…we can dominate the bottom half of the league but we can’t beat teams with a pulse.

Treliving banked on Tanev and Carlo being the guys to take us to the promised land in the playoffs. Didn’t work. Tanev probably never plays hockey again, and Carlo just looks… fine. 3rd pairing. We need a defenseman who can skate with the puck. Losing Marner left a massive hole in the lineup. We didn’t replace him. Max Domi is not a 1st line winger..
I’m just tired now and uninterested.

The leafiest outcome will happen. A pick in the 6-10 range will go to the Bruins an we will miss the playoffs. Boys will go golfing early this year. Matthews will fuck up his wrist golfing but won’t get surgery and is going to come out looking like David Kampf. Keith Pelley will fire a couple of nutritionists and physios to pump up that bottom line. Brad is going to claim a few waivers maybe sign some players on trial in September and cut them come pre-season. Cowan starts next season in the marlies. Steve Dangle will have a stroke.
