Really appreciated what you said about Rust. He's been my favorite player just about since he was first recalled. And I think he could be a great mentor for a guy like Avery Hayes in particular. I see lots of similarities there.

Hear me out LOP, but I really think Claude Giroux would be a great Center/wing option for Pittsburgh.
I know it sounds like blasphemy, but Ottawa is outta the playoffs and Giroux is a great faceoff man, grat on the PK, great IQ and also con contribute offensively.
Giroux wouldn't be expensive either, send Skinner there for Giroux and call up Muroshov from Wilkes.
If Pittsburgh goes into the playoffs vs NY Islanders with a Healthy Crosby & Giroux, they would win 65% of the faceoffs in a series vs Islanders, Captials or Hurricanes in round 2.

I’d be okay with trading Rakell in the offseason in a move that possibly brings in a player like Jason Robertson for the longterm. If you can’t get a robo like player then re-sign Mantha to a 1 year extension. Sign Geno to a 1 year extension. Sign Chinakov to a 2-3 year deal. Sign Dewar to a 1 year extension. This forces McGroarty, Koivunen, Hayes, etc to have to compete for jobs. If Dewar is your 13th/14th forward then great, if he has to play then that means you aren’t giving a young guy a spot if they haven’t earned it.
Sign Shea to a 1 year deal and your defense is probably set cause the market sucks.
Sign Silovs and let him and Murashov battle it out for the starter role in the AHL and Blomqvist gets the starter job in WBS.
Let’s be real. We probably find a way to win if the terrible goalie interference call in the rangers game doesn’t happen. Could have been a 3-0 game there assuming we scored the 3rd goal that we actually did.
