for the life of me …please explain why roy plays drouin over duclair. So if the argument is that drouin plays a 200 foot game……..did drouin prevent 8 goals in 8 games like duclair actually did score 8 goals in 8 games? hell no. This is a results oriented business and and drouin has been a total floater.
I think the Schaefer pick is going to be seen as good as the McDavid, Matthews and Celebrini picks in the last Decade , He has already surpassed Bedard , This is what happens when a prospect Hits His 99th percentile and is not held back, Isles got VERY lucky in the lottery, Literally a Franchise changing pick
Kashawn Aitcheson OHL defenseman of the month and sets franchise record all time scoring record. Imagine a lineup down the road of Schaefer and Aitcheson. 63 points and a plus 42. The future is bright
Imagine if the forwards were league average and could score? He'd have at least a dozen more assists. They need to build around him, he needs a MacKinnon type (something close).
Schaefer is the main reason the Isles have flipped two important aspects of their game. plays on the rush and OT. Last few years, the team was one of the worst off the rush and in OT. Now one of the best on the rush and the best in OT at 8-0. In OT he gets the most ice time and does it on both sides of the ice. Just a pleasure to watch him play and evolve in front of our eyes.

It’s tough to put into words what Schaefer is doing. I’ve told people who are fans of THEIR teams, but aren’t knowledgeable about the NHL. If an NBA rookie was doing the NBA equivalent of what Schaefer is doing in the NHL as a rookie, that NBA rookie would be spoken about EVERYDAY on Sports Center. It’s that historic.
He’s only the FOURTH rookie defenseman to score 20 goals in the HISTORY of the NHL. It hadn’t been done in 20 years. He was the first rookie this season to reach 20 goals, that’s the first time it’s ever been done by a defenseman. He’s tied for 2nd in goals by a defenseman, not just by rookies, but all the dmenn the whole NHL.
This isn’t normal, it should be spoken loud and clear. He should be used as one of the faces of the NHL, he’s not a normal 18 year old.
You guys forgot Rasmus Dahlin. I think Schaefer is Top 5 to 10
In 2 years time Schaefer will be THE BEST D in the League. And Mr. Darche – please do not trade Aitcheson…
I disagree that he is not on the S tier with Crosby or McDavid. Hear me out…..
1. He is 18yrs old
2. He is a defensemen, u cant expect Crosby rookie yr numbers.
3. It took Makar, Hughes and Werenski YEARS to get to their level….Schaef has basically jumped all of them.
4. Schaef has yet to train his body and skillset with professional trainers. Look at the jump Bedard and Celebrini made in 1 and 2yrs of off-season coaching. Their speed is NOTICEABLE from year to year.
Schaef's skillset and speed hasnt even been tapped into yet. That is a scary thought.
Schaffer is a beast. Isles need to get Thomas or Kyrou to get to the cup
