Should throw Dave Keon in there with a rock solid wooden stick and those big thick skates. I’m not saying he would be better than any of these guys, but it would be fun.
Players should be in their natural positions.
Centres would be
Gilmour
Matthews
Sundin
Sittler
Kaberle was 200x better then Rielly in their primes.
Wendell Clark would embarrass anyone on that top line with his physical presence.
That d explains a lot about why they haven’t won squat in 50+ years
Nieuwendyk
Keon
Horton
Mahovlich
Bryan McCaber?
Now do one for all the draft picks they’ve traded away
Phil should be there easily over Damphousse & probably some others. Phil topped out at top 5 or 6 in both goals & points in two separate seasons. Damphousse finished 36th in goals & 18th in points in the season you listed.
A nice, fun post!
Almost as good as the 90’s/2000’s Red Wings! lol
Bryan McCaber
Personally I would take out Damphousse and move around someone on Line 2 since they are all primarily centres and I’m sure at least one of Kessel’s season could make a winger spot on one of the lines. I’m sure Kessel had at least one season as a Leafs better than Damphouse, no disrepect to him obviously but objectively must be true even without looking at stats. Fine with being disproven considering I didn’t do my research haha.
That Mogilny – Matthews – Marner line would be fun! Lots of skill.
Special teams? What does your PP / PK look like?
Please don’t include Reilly lol
That’s a pretty depressing roster when you consider how strong many other teams would be able to put together
Sundin being done so dirty here.
No Kessel is crazy
Gary Roberts, Steve Thomas? Both were awesome! What about Leetch!
If you’re really going with single season performance, I’d take Gary Leeman 89/90 over Lanny McDonald 76/77 at RW on Line 3. Clark is gritty enough that you don’t need to pair him with McDonald and that prime Leeman Hound Line chemistry was a thing of beauty. Plus in terms of depth it gives you a constant skills-based elite forward. Wouldn’t want Leeman after 89/90, probably wouldn’t want him before. But that year he was magic. I wore #11 the whole time I played just based on his performance that season.
Line One looks nice but has ZERO grind
Man… this is just makes me sad.. we got to watch arguably the most skilled and talented leafs teams for the past half century and they weren’t enough to get a cup..
Makes me wonder what it will take
Mats on the wing* is a sin. Guy is an all time great powerful centre.
Reilly detected.. Roster rejected.
Can we all take a moment to appreciate that printing though!?
Cujo Is your starter
I love Felix but Eddie is the #1
I would definitely want to have 1987 Kenny Wregget or 1978 Mike Palmateer.
13 games .921 with a 2.29 Gaa.
13 games .918 with a 2.42 Gaa.
And Dave 🐯 Williams. Just for funziez.
Its hard to go wrong with Potvin, Cujo and Belfour tho. 🤣
No Jason Blake!???
Domi??
Where the hell is yuskevich?
