I feel like mrtka will be good but i don't think this is robbery. parayko is the blues no 1 d man. mrtka is still very young and it will be a long time until we know to what caliber he will play at the nhl level. A lot of big defensemen suffer injuries as well.
Maybe both teams got what they wanted/needed…this goes into next year for the Sabres bc Byram will probably be traded this summer. STL is rebuilding, they get 2 youngsters or they use the 1st to get a younger NHL ready prospect. Sabres get an experienced playoff RHD (89 playoff gms). It was reported that STL wanted Power as part of the trade for Thomas and the Sabres wouldn't give in.

Sabres fan here , Mrtka is a big kid , and what we have seen is he going to be great . This trade works well for both teams .

Not every trade has to be one side fleecing the other. How quickly we forget Ryan O'Reilly for Tage Thompson? That seemed to work out well for both parties involved. Maybe Mrtka will develop into the next big thing, maybe not. Maybe Parayko has some gas left in the tank, maybe he's washed. Time will tell. I hope both teams benefit in the end
