Really liked him. It’s all falling apart

  2. Rinne4Vezina

Barry, we’ve talked about trading within the division 😂

  3. bomberfan2

Well this sucks and has ruined my night. Blankenburg was one of my favourite Preds & played so well for us. God dammit

  4. G14mogs

Surely Blankenburg is worth more than a 5th with how good he has been for us…..

    Seriously Barry WTF

  5. Expert-Upstairs-4502

This ones a bit underwhelming, Blanks is better than he gets credit for i think

  6. sickofwords

I seriously thought he might get resigned. He’s been arguably our second best defenseman this year.

  7. TheDeusecond

Honestly would’ve preferred to re-sign him if that’s all we were gonna get for him

  8. Sherpav

Alright, we’re actually rebuilding. Good for Blankenburg, hope he wins a cup

I have a feeling they’ll continue to trade away depth guys for assets and keep the big pieces in place. I’m happy with the returns we’ve gotten thus far, but if you’re gonna sell at the deadline and you’re outside of the playoff race, you may as well get your moneys worth and trade a higher end asset. ROR does not have a trade clause and is having a career season (or at least close to one)… we’ve seen what sellers are getting for far worse players and it’s safe to say he’d bring in a genuine haul. Just do it, Barry. You can be the bad guy by trading your boy and then peace out forever.

I know we should probably be selling and his contract is up at the end of the year but I kind of hate this trade. He provides good value as a penalty killer and depth defenseman. Even if he wasn’t going to sign in Nashville next year, I don’t see how him playing out his contract here is worse value than a 5th round pick next year.

Lost me here. He is such a perfect piece for a non playoff team. A 5th is worthless. Ugh.

Also, if you’re gonna tear down the supporting cast, why still pretend you’re going to push for the playoffs? Go all in on this selling stuff

Crazy that Big Sexy got more value than Blanks

  13. SaticoySteele

He’s a little older than I thought, but definitely not a guy I figured we’d be in a hurry to move… I guess since there’s no hope of moving Skjei anytime soon we gotta clear space in other ways though.

  14. RatBoyWritings

all my favourite players are leaving… first mccarron and now blankenburg…

  15. EmbraceThePerd

Well this caught me off guard. We have 4 garbage defenders and you get rid of this guy?

  16. Helmburr87

This was a move to make space for Ufko. This team is gonna be and should be nearly half prospects after this week.

  17. R0B0T_ST0P

I feel like they already know who the next gm is and/or they are working with management to blow it up and start from scratch. Why tf would you get rid of Blanks for that? Dude was consistent.

  18. Legionnaire11

On one hand, Blankenburg was never expected to be anything given his size, but we managed to get some decent use out of him AND flip him for draft capital.

On the other hand, a 5th round pick has next to no chance of becoming an NHL player, so what’s the point? Especially because we’re not exactly loaded on RD.

Edit: Apparently Ufko is called up, that’s a nice positive result from this.

  19. Dick-Punch89

But I watched him score the OT game winner against the Kings in December 2024. Fuck I hate this.

  20. Own_Flounder3477

Literally the worst move of Trotz tenure behind giving Skjei 7/7. For a 5th?! For a 5th just keep the kid. He’s arguably been the second best Defenseman on the team behind Josi. And we kept Barron who can’t play D?! I’m excited for the kids but good lord dude made the league minimum and worked his ass off every night.

  21. ughedmund

Blanks the forever pred, off to my mortal enemy. For a pack of fries. I hate it

  22. obsoleteXeo

Ehhhhh, I like Blankenburg, but don’t hate moving him as a supporter of a rebuild…….but a 5th as the return? That’s pretty weak, Barry. I guess it’s better than letting him walk, and we get to clear more space for youth, so it’s logical to what I’m wanting to see with this trade deadline, but I think he coulda fetched more for sure in this market, and now Colorado gets a sparkplug for their run.

  23. Electricflows

Colorado 5th seems really low, not even future considerations…

  24. catsgr8rthanspoonies

Barry traded another one of Vange’s friends away.

  25. Inevitable-Lion100

All we can hope for is that something bigger is at play where trotz is collecting picks to flip by bundle w marchassault or Bunting for atleast someone decent in return. I don’t think sedoff is it.

  26. cwebblax

Sell sell sell. Although this one we needed to stay i think.
