Great deal for the Leafs. The conditions for the 1st seem reasonable. Great trade for a guy like Roy.

  2. PaymentNervous2898

    We did something! Let’s go!

  3. breakyoudown

FINALLY LETS GO EVERYONE GET IN HERE

  4. XviiChong

Great trade, fetching a first (reportedly top 10 protected), is ideal

  5. LongjumpingDiver8773

Scratch 3 guys last night —> trade guy who wasn’t scratched.

  6. SmarcusStroman

A first for Roy is a MASSIVE win. No matter where that pick falls.

  7. IAmTheBredman

Its the right thing to do, but damn it hurts watching the leafs spend the last 5+ years looking for good bottom 6 centers and now that we have them we’re selling them.

  8. SNG_Blitzy

Inb4 “if the avs don’t win the cup, the pick becomes a 2028 7th”

  9. mikesully374826

Now do Laughton, OEL, Carlo, McMann, and Stolarz

    Tick tock.

    Conditions:

In the event Colorado’s 2027 first-round selection is in the top-10 of the 2027 NHL Draft, Colorado will send its unprotected 2028 first-round pick to Toronto. Colorado currently holds three fifth-round selections in the 2026 NHL Draft; the lowest of those three picks will be transferred to Toronto as part of the transaction.

  11. Flatoftheblade

    That’s…actually pretty good.

  12. Arch-Vader

This is a fantastic return assuming the conditions aren’t wild

  13. goleafsgo13

I don’t get the obsession with him. He’s not that good…

So getting a first for him is surprising, that’s for sure.

  14. Prof_Scott_Steiner

So picks 29-32 and a lottery ticket. Not awful

So TLDR: 1st is Top 10 Protected in 2027, but will be bumped to a 2028 unconditional 1st if that condition is met. The 2026 5th will be whichever is the lowest of Colorado’s current three 5th rounders.

  16. NopeItsDolan

top 10 protected in 2027. if it’s in the top 10 in 2027, leafs get an unprotected 2028 pick

  17. richardvdp

So this is the return for marner then

  18. postmodern_lasagna

Sorry Tree for ever doubting you. Especially if Laughton also gets traded, would be nice to see Quillan get some time

  19. CBeLLoL

Thought he played well last night. Really wanted out of here I guess lol

  20. Thefreshi1

Not bad for Marner. I mean, Roy. Even the last pic in the first round is a decent return.

  21. OPDBZTO

    Top 10 protected first

Unless Colorado has a terrible year like the leafs did this year its going to be 2017

Here’s hoping leafs can get a first in this year draft or maybe some 2nd round picks

Leafs prospects pool is non existent

  22. eztobekind

Wow we actually got the first, okay okay

  23. RedWingMYW

Quillan in the lineup now? Would be nice to see him get a run

  24. HatrickLaine29

    Essentially Marner for a 1st and 5th.

  25. Party-Yoghurt-8462

If Roy gets you a first round pick then McMann absolutely has to be worth a first round pick.

  26. WinterTsar

If Treliving can keep getting us value like this for OEL, McMann, and maybe even Carlo, I wouldn’t be too upset. Rebuilding some of the draft capital we gave away.

I wish our future GM’s shared my philosophy of not giving up 1st round picks for players that don’t move the needle. Grab those guys in UFA, don’t overpay at the deadline.

  27. KoldCanuck

Lol Trev does a deal top10 protected!

  28. -leafsnation-

Bit confused on this, so if Avs get top 10 pick next year, they give us their first round pick in 2028 no matter what? But if Avs get say the 11th pick 2027, we get it?

  29. Adventurous-Tea-876

It’s a start, now trade the rest of the roster.
