Pray for Colorado’s downfall in 2027 & 2028 so we can get Maddox Schultz in 28

  2. DougFordsGamblingAds

Worth noting that the 1st is in 2027. Obviously Colorado looks great this year, teams often have fall offs year-to-year (see Leafs, Maple).

Edit: For context, in 2025 Colorado’s pick was 22nd. Ours was 25th.

    BRAD IS ALIVE

KEEP IT UP KING I NEVER STOP BELIEVING IN YOU

  4. LongjumpingDiver8773

I’d be flabbergasted if the Avs are picking top 10 anytime soon

  5. Mashdrop

2027 supposed to be a real deep draft, no?

  6. elmicomago

May the Avs win the cup this year, then be worse than this year’s Canucks for the next two years.

  7. This is a good trade! Who knows what can happen to the aves next year.

  8. NervousNeal1

2027 pick has no impact to the team until maybe 2028/29 season. They will trade it.

  9. michiganbhunter

That’s not the full information lol. The condition on the 5th is the lowest of the 3 5th round picks Avs currently have.

  10. algofort

    Good trade.

For the people who were in the past saying “you cannot win with top heavy salary caps,” and “we need to spend salary from the top players to balance our lines,” this is 9 times out of 10 what you get. Depth is a dime a dozen. Elite players are not. You win with good depth, you don’t win by spending valuable assets or cap on it.

  11. heat_fan_

Getting a first for Roy  is a massive win

  12. The avalanche, who are favourited to win this year, put a top 10 protection on their pick.

    Take notes fraudliving

  13. ChuckleMedic

Brad with a rare win. Well done 👍

  14. Intelligent_Chair901

It’s a start. Too bad we don’t own our own first in 2027.

  15. Sad_Intention2932

Marner turned into a couple picks, thats tough.

  16. McJoe77

I’m not in love with this trade, but I’ll wait. If they’re going to try to be good again next year, they’ll be looking for a big center who’s good defensively and good on the draw and maybe they can trade that 1st round pick for it, do we know anyone like that?

It’s obviously not a bad trade, it’s never a bad move to get an extra 1st. I’ll feel a lot better once they’ve made a couple more moves.

  17. reggierock2010

Injuries happen teams have off years, a 1st is a 1st.

  18. Ordinary-Easy

Didn’t Colorado trade a conditional first in 2027 to the Islanders that transfers if Colorados pick this year is top 10 (not likely). What happens if the 2026 pick doesn’t go to the Islanders?

  19. Mission-Astronomer42

I’m pretty sure top 10 protected at this point is boilerplate at this point, every competing team sends a top 10 protected first, even though the likelihood of it for most teams (minus one blue and white team) is low

  20. schoolhouserock

    Mark Masters, the people’s Insider.

  21. RoosterMedical

When the Leafs trade a first round pick in the high 20’s: Fire the GM and the President too!

When the Leafs trade for a first round pick in the high 20’s: Meh, who cares.

  22. correct_eye_is

Was there any picks or other assets in the Marner/Roy trade?

Marner for a 2027 1st and a 2026 5th plus if anything else was involved when Roy came over sounds a lot better than Marner for Roy.

  23. TrickyLibrary4966

Well done to get a 1st. Keep it coming

  24. duck1014

Huh. That seems like a pretty good deal.

Maybe Brad is a decent seller?

  25. VitaminTea

“Full” information (no information on the 5th rounder conditions)

  26. FansTurnOnYou

Wow, I’ll admit: I’m impressed with that return.

  27. Razorwing23

No Way Colorado is dropping to Top 10 next year.

  28. mattfromjoisey

Wait Brad actually cooked on this? Center market must be shit if we’re getting a first+ for Roy

  29. jdubb14

I am actually surprised.. pretty great return.

  30. Francis33

Gonna miss Roy, he was a good 3C. Sucks we’re in a position that we’re getting rid of guys like that but the haul back was incredible.

Who’s gonna be 3C now? Lorentz? Quillan?

  31. jokeswagon

There must always be a Roy in Colorado.
