Cowan sounds pissed with the lack of ice time starting the interview using the word "opportunity" quite a bit. Rightfully so. Can't figure out why the Buds are so lack with developing young talent for so long.
Just because they are your top goal scorers doesn't mean they are the top scorers.
That level of bias is holding you as a staff back. Any given night you gotta be able to sense whose playing well, and in a shootout situation tell whose just itching for a chance to show off their skill and bury one. Matthews clearly was dealing with some pain.
Nylander a solid choice, but maybe first question if hes feeling it or not – ask him, maybe he's not since he just had that responsibility on his shoulders a couple nights ago, that amount of pressure can get to a guy, and on the flipside other guys on the bench might have been feeling more competent – who knows. Some games the best player might have the worst game and vise versa . Especially when you are in a league that is full of superstar talent.
Expecting guys to play 20+ minutes and go out for a shootout after an intense round of OT, when they are most exhausted at their breaking point, in that case someone else would be a better option idc who it is, because you have to be so mentally alert and prepared to perform in such a high pressurized situation.

This team is useless. Top line hemmed in their own end all night even when they were out against Jersey's 4th line. Domi is completely lst in defensive zone. McCab looks right at Jersey player coming in along the boards but then does a weak backhand shot tryibg to get it past him and puck is in the net 3 secobds later. Shots again over double by oppobot versus Leafs. Just pathetic efforts all around.
