Can’t imagine Kadri will be thrilled that he was prevented from going to his preferred destination. Could see this going from “is open to being traded” to trade request real quick.

  3. Seawolf1121

Fucks sake, it’d be even more of a disaster if we don’t get rid of him now

  4. Paulhockey77

Mr Cheapskate Edwards continues to piss everyone off. Why can’t the team just accept that retention is necessary

  5. maybearecord

Well who’s ready for a shit return now because we will be stuck negotiating against his no trade clause, which will leave 2 teams as possible tradable destinations..

Because Murry probably didn’t want to retain….

  6. flamingdragonwizard

Didnt want to retain probably 2m

  7. Cokejunes

The guy says he’s open to being traded, and this fucking dork blocks it. Fuck you murray

  8. Every-Citron1998

So much for the theory that getting Weegar off the books would convince Edwards to retain on Kadri.

  9. robbhope

Worst ownership in the league. What a fucking idiot.

  10. BeautifulAwareness81

Just when you thought things were going well, this fucking organization is so frustrating

  11. LimitAsXApproaches0

If I was Kadri and saw this, I don’t think I would be able to play for this team in good faith any longer.

  12. adjectives97

If it helps, sounds like aquillini is handcuffing the Canucks with the same bs

  13. robbhope

I have never met Murray Edwards and yet…I still hate him. Imagine being worth 4.2bn does and being unwilling to retain ~ 5M – 9M.
Is he an idiot? Does he not realize he’s still PAYING KADRI 7M by staying?

What a bush league owner. Dude doesn’t even live here. Murray zero legacy Edwards.

    What. The. Actual. Fuck.

I bet it was about eating salary.

  15. MisfitFlame

unless I hear this from Friedman, im taking it with a grain of salt lol

  16. ApplicationFrosty880

Lol from Kypryos to Pinder is like 2 retards playing the phone game. Probably got their info from Frank.

  17. Misterr_Joji

Please sell the team to someone who isn’t a meddling cheapskate.

Guys, it’s worth pointing out retention can be limiting based on slots as well as money.

Calgary already has two of their three retention spots used up in the final year of markstroms deal as well as in andersson’s trade. Given the way the market is right now it’s not a bad idea to hold off and see if guys will cough up extra for retention on Coleman or kadri by the TDL, and if nothing else I’d bet COL circles back this summer if Roy doesn’t get it done for them… I’ve said all year that I always felt Kadri was going to be a summer move if we ever trade him

FWIW it sounded like the avs didn’t want to compensate us too much for retaining 3 more years of salary

    /u/yycpapa

What happened to the flames being a team willing to retain multiple years?

  20. Agreeable-Car-5926

Idk I’m glad they didn’t sell Kadri for that trade package if that’s all they were offering. Guys a player and he’ll have even less term next year so he’s still tradeable

  21. yycoding

It’s an arrogant way of doing business for the owner to want the final say without being intimately involved in the process.

An example of the correct way to do this is Parayko. Get the managers and owners in agreement and only then involve the agents and players. Much more respectful to all parties.

  22. Pun1sher999

It was a terrible trade for what was likely a mid to later 1st round pick and a dumpster 5th round and no prospect in return.

  23. FunctionalBattery

Murray doesn’t want to see Kadri have success and leave. What a piece of shit owner

  24. SteveCondor

There’s far more to retention than strictly the owner being a “cheapskate”. It’s a useful bargaining tool and should be used to increase a trade return.

The franchise is clearly going the way that so many fans have been asking for and we’re upset about a third hand tweet?

I’m no defender of Murray but let’s be reasonable, kind of hard to be critical when the team is already using 2/3 of their retention slots.
