I like how this team is shaping up. Their contracts are good. Their cupboard is filled with drafted youth with upside. They have tons of depth down the middle. A good coach. Should be a bright future. Trading Wright will be their biggest mistake. When he’s actually given time to play, he excels. The problem is that they prioritize Stevenson over him.
The Krakens were a surprise to watch this season.
We need a system of 2 points if you win 0 points if you lose don't matter in what fashion get players that can score in shutout if that's an issue!
good improvement this season
Too bad that Shane wright hasn’t popped off. Kraken really need some star power. Instead struggling as a middling team
They've played good this season I don't think those playoff odds are honest. Don't forget that the Kraken also threatened to take the top spot from the Knights along with the Ducks at points this season, so long as they stay consistent they should make it.
18% for playoffs is obstinately low for the team ranked second place in the Pacific by points percentage 68% of the way through the season. Dom's model is leaning very hard on his priors and rejecting real information, probably irresponsibly so, because the Stephenson contract lives rent free in his head. (Ironically, with the cap shooting up, Stephenson playing better, and Stephenson one of the only SEA forwards who can competently take a d-zone face-off, the contract isn't as egregious as it once seemed to be.)
I don't think the Kraken are a threat to go deep in the playoffs but Dom's insistence that they're the worst team in the NHL is clownish, his ranking of their organization as having a bottom 3 prospect pool even more so. I liked most of the rest of the video though. Would have liked to see more acknowledgement of their goaltending and defensive strength (casually the highest save% on shots on goal in the NHL).
Using the (pretty) highly agreed upon worst model for playoffs odds for this series is odd.
Kings and Ducks don't play each other anymore, so no more 3 point games for those two teams head to head. I think trading Wright would be a mistake at 22. Matty B had a sophomore slump too. Give him a couple more seasons.
I think their future is in their prospects. Caton, Jake O’Brian and Mølgaard. The guys that have come up and played 4th line this year have brought a lot of energy.
I would like to see more offensive from Shane Write, but I think he’s more like Beniers, 50-60 points and 200’ of play.
This team is overrated. Do you seriously believe they do anything but get blown out in round 1 if they even make it?
If not the Panthers or Lightning this year, GO KRACK GO!
Could see them go 13-6 over next 19 gms. And exciting last couple weeks
It's a been a traditional Seattle sports season for the Kraken. Cautiously optomistic. The boys look good most of the time, and then suddenly really not so. Hard to say why as a fan, but hopefully the players know and keep a long perspective as they grind out a playoff spot. Lets hope the Seahawks can lead the way for some deep Mariners and Kraken playoff runs
Maybe a 3 way trade. Islanders send Matthew Barzal to Seattle (he’s from BC) and Washington is a state tax free state. Calgary sends Matthew Coronato to the Islanders (Coronato is a Long Island guy) and Seattle send some prospects or draft picks to Calgary. San an Islanders fan I like Barzal but for the money is being paid, he does assist a lot but he doesn’t score enough goals. We need goals.
Seattle already won the Super Bowl, but man a playoff game for the Kraken would be amazing a really nice bonus.
I love this team but they will need some breaks and a bit of luck to make the playoffs. They need to beat contenders and that is something they've struggled with this year.
18% playoff odds is simply wrong. we are tied for second in the division (Oilers have 1 more point but have played 2 more games so I wouldn't consider them ahead of the kraken)
The hits go way up when don't call me Rollie Melenson is active.
My top 3 trades I’d like to see, whether it be offseason or trade deadline, 1. Jason Robertson, 2. Elias Pettersson, 3. Mika Zibanejad. I think these 3 guys are possible from the kraken side, there’s some downsides with all 3 but I think they all are prime targets if the Kraken are going to be aggressive like the rumors say. If they were willing to trade for Panarin and give him 14m I don’t see why any of these would be off the table other than the player in the case of Mika and Elias do not want to come here at all. As for the downsides for each, Robertson is a hot scorer right now, exactly what they need but they will have to commit long term to him. For Pettersson you have to hope he bounces back from whatever he’s been through the last couple seasons and that cap hit is pretty brutal for that risk. For Mika, i would say it’s just getting what you want from him, if the effort would be there. All three of these guys have 100 point pontential, if the kraken want to win anytime soon, they have to start taking risks and gunning for these guys to show they are serious players in the market. They have played it far too safe, there’s a balance, and they are far too conservative. When I look at this roster and imagine those 3 guys as the top line, I can see us going toe to toe with anyone especially in our division. If we are within 5 points of 1st without significant scoring, I can imagine we can be cup contenders with a top line like this.
I am a very new fan and asking other karken fan what should I know about they team just wanting to learn more and gain a better understanding of our team.
