A 2nd round pick 3 drafts from now will really get the rebuild going. I think this trade highlights the lack of value our players have. Current year performance has significantly diminished the value of anyone left after Quinn was traded.

Gonna be interesting to see how today plays out. Obviously moving another vet like Debrusk would be great, but being proactive and moving out O’Connor before you’re forced to do so anyway next year would be solid. I would expect Blueger to go at some point in this mad dash for Centers the League is undergoing right now. Definitely clear out Kane somehow for his roster spot.

Honestly at this point, I can live without the 6th that Kampf might get you. It’s kinda whatever in the grand scheme of what’s been done. If in the mad rush for Centers you get something nicer like a 4th then yeah that’s just gravy.

Other than hronek, who on this team over the age of
23 has a true positive value? And I mean something more than a 3rd round pick. Not even sure there are any. This is becoming like an expansion team starting fresh.

The Garland trade has me taking the talk of a rebuild a lot more serious. I’m wondering if the « no money back » sentiment is that Aqua is willing to do a rebuild but with as low as a payroll as possible. To his credit he’s willing to spend to the cap so makes sense he would be willing to tough it out, as long as he spends a bit less.

Myers and Garland really showed they’re serious about making trades.

Kane, DeBrusk, Petey likely next, if the last few trades are anything to go by. Be amazed if they trade Brock considering there didn’t seem to be demand before he signed his latest deal here.

Almost everyone’s on the table but I wouldn’t mind keeping Hronek to mentor our bustling young dcore Willander, DPetey and Zeev.

And not taking players back + the picks being further ahead then just this year begins to indicate that this is a full teardown rebuild, just not a one year retool disguised as a rebuild.

There will probably be more ahead in the off-season and beyond as a few players have already indicated they want no part of a rebuild. ofc they could turn around and trade those picks but for now, I’m catiously optimistic

If they were serious Hronek would be dealt

The off season will be interesting. After moving Garland the Canucks are getting close to the salary floor for next year. Obviously they will have some slots to fill, but something to watch

    Aquilini- I’m super cereal guys

Umm…. Quinn Hughes represents the moment the rebuild got serious. We traded a top 5 player, captain, and franchise leader in points at their position as they were just hitting their prime.

Good guy, but I don’t think we need any trumpsters on our Canadian team.

The people in the front office who are doing this rebuild are the same people who built the team that they are now dismantling. The same people who couldn’t get high priced talent to work together as a team. This endeavour will end in a train wreck and two or three years from now Rutherford and company will be fired and then the real rebuild will start.
