Yeah true, but there’s something going on with him. Just not the same since his injuries

Personally I love Hedman. But imo he’s been declining over the last 3 seasons, more or less beginning after the 22′ run, at times more noticable than others – and its only natural to suspend disbelief and want to keep handing out rope because of how much he’s done for this franchise.

We should probably trade Vasy while we are at it. /S

Yeah he’s been on the downtrend since our last cup.

His play defensively has declined over the past few seasons. Hedman was never really a true defensive defenseman but his biggest strength was his skating ability. He was basically a one man breakout and could skate the puck out of the defensive zone more times than not. 2015 Stanley Cup Playoff Hedman might have been the best hockey player I’ve ever seen but the fact is he’s just not that player anymore. Injuries have turned him in to a shell of himself and if he doesn’t adapt his game to the reality of his physical state we are going to be in trouble. Yes he can still put up points but I prefer my 8m AAV defenseman to have that shut down ability and we aren’t seeing that from Heddy. Love him and hope he proves me wrong but it’s become very frustrating to watch.

Per the meme post, Hedman is on his way to the glue factory.

Will probably need a bigger gun to take down a Swede of that size. But I agree with OP’s sentiment, it’s sad, but it’s the humane thing to do

People here are always looking for the next scapegoat. We’ve gone through Raddysh, Lilleberg, and Bjorkstrand so far this season and now that Hedman is back people are quick to lay all of our problems at his feet.
That said, Hedman’s play has definitely been declining for a few years now. I think at least some of the frustration with him is not just about the current stretch but about his performance over the last few seasons.

and just like that. You got a bunch of “his play has declined” paragraphs
Y’all are great when we win 19 out of 21

It’s not necessarily about him playing bad, he’s hobbled and injured. He’s not smooths in his game and it’s not skill it’s physiological

“A little while” is over a full season

**Lightning have a accumulation of small problems hitting at once**
* Break rarely does Lightning well, their 1-4 start strengthens his thinking.
* Vasy also looks rusty after break, Lightning needed him to be sharp while team figured it out.
* There’s not one main issues causing bad play = It’s a step behind here & there that adds up to Lightning chasing game.
* Hopefully they get going
