  1. Somethings gotta give with KK. I understand the Canes are very good and were average at best, if this doesn’t mean any sort of wake up call then I don’t know what will. Patience for me is running very thin

  2. Last year lineup was deep and dominating over all top teams , until game 3 (vs florida finals), when Kane, Brown , Perry ALL got disrespected in locker room as being …(non important ) and followed by every media outlet pushing conner drai ONLY focus then it ALL FELL APART AS REST OF THE PLAYERS SAID SCREW IT , DO IT BY YOURSELF THEN … AND IT WAS ALL OVER SINCE THEN .

  3. How are new players supposed to get used to a new team in they are on 4 different lines in a game? They can't…

  4. When Knobby answered Gregor’s question he went on to say ‘perhaps it is because Conner & Leon are getting tired later in games!’

Gee knobby why do they get so tired late in games? They have been played to the point of exhaustion by you ffs!

  5. Picks should have been made starter after Stu left , Jarry and Ingram need more time to gel, but the D was glorified with huge raise , and gave them a pass for all the screwups instead of fixing issues . Jarry and Ingram can't get comfy with the pylon abismal D play , which never tries to improve because they were shielded by Connor influence . till now that it's all broken .

Like last 3 years , only way to playoffs is with CALVIN …. PERIOD. After that the team has to be tweaked to endure . but won't be as capable as they were last year without Kane and Perry . it just a is fact. there is a way but they may not realize till to late , or possibly ever with current status quo mindsets .

  6. They are going no where. There is no team when the coach only plays the same 2 players all tbe time(McDavid & Drysital). The one thought that has come to my mind is if they don't make the play offs McDavid is never going to sign another contract in 2 years when his is done. He will be another page of history. I can't think of a team that has wasted more first round picks and won nothing than the Oilers. Definitely sad times in Oil Country. Oh a by the way punt Knoblock and find a coach with passion.

  7. Last year’s fourth line was better. But Dach is unlikely to be here long, so if it’s Samanski or someone decent, it looks better than with Dach most likely. The top nine is better this year, and the defence remains to be seen but perhaps slightly better last year.

(The price for Faulk looks pretty good as an alternative to Murphy at this point)

Frederick is looking better and I think he might still be coming back from injury so let’s see. Henrique might end up off the roster and his replacement might be an improvement.

I’d say the lineups are similar and potentially better this year. How they play at any given point in the regular season has been proven many times not relevant to the final product.

  8. Foegel, who blew up after leaving Edm, was also not great before knoblaugh, so that shows his glow up was independent of Knobs. McLeod was also just “good” before and during Knob, so his glow up seems independent.
Holloway and Brobs may have gotten a bump from several things: showing the Oilers up for not signing them, getting better roles in St Louis, and getting older since they were both quite young. Maybe even more man strength. That’s not to discount the possible role of knob, but things are always multi varied causes.

  9. Players leave the Oilers and get to play a lot more and in more situations, that does not happen with Mcdavid and Draisaital around …players need to play, feel part of it, its quite simple on my mind

  10. I am hopeful it's the coach, but I'm worried some of it has to do with core personnel in the locker room too. That being said, I think that a coach definitely has a role in helping, you know, COACH those players and be a resource that helps your core players be successful leaders.

  11. I was always a Jay Woodcroft fan .. they bumped him way to soon this line mixing monkey they have no allows no time to even build cohesion in the lines before hes swapping them out

  12. I think this season is toast for Edmonton. Start actually rolling 4 lines evenly and see what you have for Players on this team. Then fix it in the summer. Coach is gone either way. For now, even out the minutes. Even if it's 3 lines. Teams figure out 1 line pretty quick. Even when it is stacked with 2 of the NHL's best

  13. Knobloch a knob. Oilers don't deserve to go to the playoffs look at Florida both teams are worn out !!!! We need an actual goalie and some fucking defence man . And a tuff guy ..

  14. Over playing Drai and McDavid outside of the power play has ruined this team. Opponents only need to watch film on 2 guys to beat the Oil. Other talented players go to waste, become disengaged, and disgruntled. Knobby looks desperate and relies on tired talent to often.

  15. The coach is the easy target because he’s visible, it’s Jeff Jackson’s and bowman’s mismanagement over the last two years putting the coach in an tough spot, cmon people! Look deeper.

  16. true; key front(ie MdD and Draisaitl) are hugely LESS motivated and whole team generally not connected with rest of team. bad coach; generating -anything with good guys

  17. When you were discussing the players, you forgot about the goalies, and last season the goalies were better
than the Ingram/Jarry pairing. 😇In fact, the defense was better last year too.

  18. The exception that proves Gregor wrong is the impact that Coffey had last year on the defense core:

He was the first to admit he's "not an X's & O's guy" – but the impact was huge and immediate. All the guys did how much his words and presence mattered.

So to try and pretend like coaches personalities don't rub off on their teams is intentional ignorance, quite frankly.

And I do appreciate Gregor's commentary but I think he's just backwards on that one

  19. Less than 20 games left. Miss the playoffs and rest. Regroup for next season. McDavid needs rest.

  20. we got new players and what does knob do sit them to play MCDRY nuclear option and its getting very very old and this does not work .

  21. As someone who works in leadership, If i had a team of solid people who had been known for their work in previous jobs, but I couldn't get the best out of them? I would blame myself more than anyone. Nevermind the best, Knob consistently gets the worst out of these guys

  22. I've been saying this for a while now. The Oilers seem to have a morale and motivation issue. It is the coach's job to fix that. Knobs hasn't, so this is on him. Austin, I disagree. If the Oilers do not make it to the playoffs which is unthinkable but possible, knobs will be held accountable.

  23. I have a little tasks for you Austin compare each coach McDavid has had in the amount of games coached regular season and playoffs combined before there has been a coaching change
This is just my opinion and it won’t be a popular opinion that McDavid and Drai are coach kills it seems after a period of time we get a coaching change if you look what Drai said going into the Olympic break and how the team has played since they have returned tells me McDavid and Drai have had even of Knobs and there attitude trickles down throughout the whole lineup
I have always maintained it’s not a coaching issue it’s a leadership group issue
    Just my 2 cents

  24. I still liked last year team better, age regression a real thing. Nuge Henrique are running out of gas compared to beginning of season, walman extremely bad right now. victor arvdisson can drive the play in limited time. Perry was so good in playoff too. Klingberg was good in sheltered minutes and great puck mover. I think this year is actually weaker, savoie can’t finish for life of him, nobody in bottom 6 can drive play. Over paid dMen with horrible goalies once again
