Je ne dis pas que c’est le jour où tout s’est effondré, mais c’est le jour où tout s’est effondré

    meh is it really though?

    1. If Petey doesn’t disappear during the playoffs, we likely make a deep run and this rental looks pretty good

    2. Because Petey disappeared, we really needed Lindholm to fill that 2C role and he did it well.

I’d argue the OEL trade is what made everything fall apart. Imagine having Dylan Guenther right now. And no buyout.

The day we lost Joni Jurmo.

    Twas a sad day indeed.

I think there’s something to be said about not trying to make every player a “200ft” guy. You need to coach to your players strengths (to a degree). Kuzmenko played well with Mikheyev and Pettersson who were both defensively responsible which was a good decision by Bruce.

Drance had it right. This core fell apart in the 2020 season off season right after the Bubble when Benning let Tanev, Toffoli, Stecher walk due to running out of time

Disagree, that team was good and made it to game 7 against the eventual cup finalists Oilers with a backup goalie. When you have a chance to go for the cup in this leauge you do it.

The OEL trade is the one that set this franchise back and benning should have never been allowed to make that as a saving face trade, he had nothing to lose as was set to get fired anyway.

The beginning of the end is when they chose miller over horvat.

No, things fell apart when Demko blew his knee up on Game 1 of the playoffs.

Lindholm was a monster that playoff run. 10 points in 15 games and that third line dominated both the Preds and Oilers. If Demko had an intact knee we beat the Oilers, probably beat the Stars and suddenly we’re in the Cup finals. Going off a finals run probably convinced Lindholm to stay and people to put their drama behind them to push for a cup

It was the Horvat trade but honorable mention to OEL and the original JT Miller trade

    This one was a symptom

YUP lmao. As soon as we lost Kuzy petterson lost his bff and GUY. Our picks and then direction. Last nail was getting Ian Cole who loves to score goals on his own team

  11. It started falling apart when they hired Benning, we just didn’t know it yet.

  12. robrenfrew

Giving up a 1st for a rental is just bad business. It’s not like he was the missing piece to the Stanley Cup. I thought Benning was bad, this management team might be even worse. It all falls on the owners shoulder. We had a President he wanted to do it the right way in Linden, and Frankie wanted nothing to do with it.

Early March 2024 the Canucks were dominating the Jets and Demko inexplicably got injured that set them down a long road of decline.

Everybody sitting here arguing about various rock bottoms. Im actively encouraging my kids not to let themselves become me with my sports Fandom.

Where’s Brzustewicz now? I remember a lot of people were high on him and didn’t want to see him dealt..

  16. funkiemarky

Trading Bo over Miller. He kept the Magats in check

  17. lukemeup

Quite a price for 39 games Vancouver got Lindholm to play in.

  18. StecherIsElite_

Take a look at what Kuzmenko has done after that first year.

  19. Warm_Masterpiece3940

They needed to add for that playoff run, however they needed to either talk about an extension with the player ahead of the trade, or they needed to sign a guy with some term left on his contract.  The OEL trade is what crippled this organization, that in combination of drafting juolevi McCann and virtanen… Matthew Tkchuck, Nylander and Pasternak… That’s the downfall of this group.

  20. Proof_Objective_7009

always said trading kuzmenko was the last straw

  21. Upstairs_Bad897

People can argue all day and night about guys we traded and where they are now and how successful they ended up being. At some point we have to wonder why everyone does better after they leave here. I 100% think Toch wrecked Petey and now Footes doing the same I think this clubs mishandling of players and coaches is apparent

  22. RickRogue69

The day they traded Horvat. That was it.

  23. beardycanuck03

There really isn’t one move that broke things but personally I do think that choosing Miller over Horvat is the choice that altered the trajectory of the franchise and made it boom or bust. Horvat had been groomed for the role of captain and when he was traded it opened up a leadership void that allowed Miller to fill which was shown to be toxic and created a shitty environment when things were not going well.
