Yeah, Friedman took it all back on Saturday but I guess that Luke Fox doesn’t watch HNIC.

I’m not opposed to trading Knies if he was needed in a package for a bonifide #1 D who’s young enough. But doing so on trade deadline day is beyond stupid considering the mistakes a GM can make in so little time, especially to a rival. You’d think Tre would learn. Hopefully they have the sense to get another guy in before some big changes start

Minten and a top 10 pick to the Bruins

    Knies to the Habs

Why don’t we save ourselves the time and energy and just cut off our cock and balls with a rusty spoon

  4. BiitchenKitchen

Only way Knies gets traded is if it brings a stud D back, or if it brings back a young D that has top pair potential, plus sweeteners. Nemec is the only piece that intrigues me but the devils would need to add.

  5. Redragontoughstreet

Berube has tanked everybodies values, especially Knies. Trading him right now makes no sense.

  6. Opening_Argument_927

All of our players suck ass under Bérubé. The day the regular season ends he better be gonezo.

  7. CMDRShepardN7

If Tre only had a 7th round pick to trade, he’d still manage to lose the trade badly.

People are really pissed with Tre.

But he did a good job the first year getting Domi and Bertuzzi when we were at the cap so he signed them to economical one year deals.

He did an amazing job last year with Tanev, OEL and Stolarz.

Joshua, Macelli, Roy are not jokes of names. Clearly the system didn not click this year. Especially since the room looked like it had a great team attitude.

But my biggest fear is. If Tre is fired (strong case for this)

Who the fuck is his successor? That was the beauty of Shanny at the beginning. He got to construct his organization as a strong hockey mind and wanted a new way of thinking. So he didn’t go old school, went out and found dubas. Then snagged two mentors is Lou and Hunter. Went and grabbed the most sought after coach before those hirings.

How the hell is Pelley going to do this? Unless he just hires Pridham

Idk if trading Knies is the move for the Leafs especially not to us. If it was to happen tho what would you guys want in return from the Habs?

  10. Patti_____Mayo

The idea of anyone being ‘untouchable’ on a lottery team that has never won makes no sense. Doesn’t mean Knies needs to be traded, or should be actively shopped; but not listening to an offer would be completely ridiculous as well.

You can’t trade for good assets unless you give up good assets too.

  11. Visual_Shame7864

knies needs to stay with the leafs! He’s the only one who moves on the ice.

  12. Beauuuuty

We’re not the only ones who know about Brad Treliving.

His colleagues know all too well how to expose an under qualified gm crashing under the microscope in the biggest market in hockey. Sure he has friends like Chris MacFarland who can give him sympathy deals but the rest of the league is out for blood.

  13. TheDeek

I want to fire Tre as much as anyone but it is kind of funny to criticize him for a rumour, which even if true didn’t turn into anything. So he doesn’t trade Knies and people criticize him as if he traded Knies…

  14. One-Association-5005

    Luke Fox!?!! 🤣🤣🤣

    The guy’s a clown.

Seriously, I thought this sub was for discussing the Leafs and not a three ring circus side show.

  15. dwnumber1

Honestly if we could get some of Montreal’s young defenders in this I don’t think I would mind

  16. Broely92

Kypreos loves making shit up about the leafs to draw clicks

  17. No_Aardvark974

Knies is young and can be inspired… BUT Matthews just needs to fuck off. Hes wasted enough of our years and money having “potential” but let’s admit the fact that…

    HE.

    JUST.

    DOES.

    NOT.

    GIVE.

    A.

    FLYING.

    FUCK.

    ABOUT.

    THIS.

    TEAM.

Esp after his pathetic excuse for teammates and him won gold at the Olympics. He was the gd captain for them, why cant he be a solid C for us?!?

I am very aware that this is MY opinion, and I know hes a great player, but he’s such a fucking nuisance as our C and he seems to have little to no enthusiasm about the game.
I’m more mad about how much hes paid and how little he gives a fuck, bc he has the skills and the ability, but he just DOESNT FUCKING TRY.

ETA: Knies is the kind of energy we need if we wanna start rebuilding within the next couple of seasons. NOT Matthews

  18. BloodOk6235

I mean it all depends on what the return is.

It is silly to suggest you wouldn’t trade Knies “for anything”

  19. Himera71

I can understand why, Knies doesn’t fit in..too much heart.

  20. pnutbuttersmellytime

Knies cannot and should not be traded. Rationale? I just bought my first ever hockey jersey at the beginning of the season (at my first ever hockey game when we pummeled Nashville).

  21. Murky-Lie-8998

I’d like to think GMs talk about lots of hypothetical stuff that never materializes. So I don’t care about the convo. Plenty of actual real things to be angry about instead

  22. Savings_Macaroon7892

If these morons try to retool by trading people like Knies, Leafs fans are gonna have a long 10 years.

  23. Neko_Nexus_Sky

As much as I hate to say it. Nothing is movable right now Leafs-wise.

Who wants to give anything to a team who doesn’t know what they have or use it?

  24. WorkingBicycle1958

Knies hasn’t won a puck battle, or gone to the net with authority, since December. If he is hurt, shut him down. If he is not hurt than trade him.

  25. Acrobatic_T-Rex

My guess, is that if he was being called for, the phonecall started with young RHD, and went on to add picks and or a decent prospect. The reporting was, IF it happened, we would have been going, oh well, ok, that makes sense.

That said I am firmly in the camp of at 23, this is the kid that will be in his prime no matter what path forward the team takes. Whether it is quick retool(how??) or its a full blown rebuild taking 3-7 years.

  26. ifrankenstein

Under an actual system Knies would be a stud.

  27. Last_Command_9147

Even if he isn’t hurt he is 23 and still putting up points. He is only going to get better and is the exact kind of player winning teams go after. He should be the most untouchable player on the team.

  28. Nearby-Swordfish3841

Yes, the “insider” shit is clickbait
