  1. I'm a Red Wings fan, that 2002 Stanley cup team was the best!! Hull became my favorite to watch.. I felt bad for Whitney when he came to Detroit, he basically was brought in to replace Fedorov (who left for Anaheim)..but Whitney in Detroit wasn't a match made in Heaven, he only lasted one year in Detroit, then he goes off & wins the Cup in Carolina!

  2. I didn't realize Robert Lang played in Detroit. So underrated. Kovalev, Straka and Lang were magical in Pittsburgh.

  3. Nothing makes me happier than hearing them TRASH Babcock. Dude ruined the greatest franchise in sports.

  4. Hull scored his 700th in the 02/03 season. The primary assist was Datsyuk and the secondary was Fedorov. Whitney wasn’t even on the team yet. The only part he got right was it was a PP goal for #700.

  5. Such a "wagon", they got clapped out of the west by the best team ever assembled. Enjoy the east, that dumpster patch, and that 10 year golf break.

  6. Thank you guys for bringing this podcast together. Having grown up playing in the 90’s you guys were the hockey heroes. God bless you all!

  7. My favorite time as a hockey fan was watching Stevie Y as captain of the Red Wings dynasty. Those teams were arguably the BEST HOCKEY ROSTER ever assembled.

If memory serves me correct, I believe Lidstrom played on those teams at a time when he wasnt even an Assistant Captain. Then he ended up winning the cup again as Captain.

    Fun stuff.

  8. "Best assistant coach and the worst head coach." Ouch Hullie. I mean mostly true but still ouch.

Sorry Whit, you didn't have the primary assist on Hull's 700th. That happened in like February 2003 before you were a Wing. Datsyuk had the primary on that one. Maybe that was a different milestone the next season you assisted on.

  9. I think it’s funny how much hate Babcock gets but people forget how incompetent Dave Lewis was as a head coach and he was a head coach for two freaking years of the Red Wings. They were such a stacked team and 03 and 04. It was such a shame for them to go out in the first and second round.
Dave Lewis had enough pull around the league that he actually got another job after in Boston, which blows my mind
I just don’t understand how the Red Wings ownership could spend so much money on the roster and yet screw up hiring a head coach due to loyalty.
Again, say what you will about Babcock and sure he was a psycho, but do you know what their team won a Stanley Cup and you can say it’s despite him but nonetheless they won a Stanley Cup yes, the team was stacked in 08 but guess what the team was stacked in 03 and 04.

  10. I remember someone getting Deveroux a 24 hat from the TV show and Hull was making it a joke that was his career goal total.
