Some people here are ready to blow up the team after that loss, but keep in mind that this is an extremely unlucky stretch of injuries we’ve suffered. Yzerman couldn’t possibly predict our top 2 centers getting badly injured mere days after the deadline. The timing of these injuries is very unfortunate.
Who do we even target at center in the off-season? Are there any needle movers available, or will it be another year of praying that Danielson or Kasper can elevate themselves to the 2C spot? I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about us trading an unprotected 1st this year, but I’d rather it be this year than next. There’s no guarantee this team will improve next season, and the division is an absolute bloodbath. We have been carried hard by Gibson this year, and it’s asking a lot to expect him to do this every year.
Yeah we got no centers left but I’d have full trust in Marco being out there in those 2 minutes over Compher.
And I’ll say it again what the fuck is Rasmussen doing out there? Get him the fuck off this team. Even Ericsson wasn’t that soft, at least he used his body.
We’re now in the top WC spot. We are just four points away from being on the outside and looking in… again. It’s not doom and gloom, but you can’t give away two points so easily- almost without a fight. That was 90 seconds of shit last night. I like a little drama- but c’mon now boys. My sphincter is puckering. Oh March- why must you treat us so poorly?
I will ride with this team until we’re officially eliminated. Even if we get our shit blown smoov off, I’m having a good time.
Absolutely inexcusable to not walk away with two there. I’m not dooming yet but how do you let that happen?
Can I buy a Priority patch somewhere so I can cleanse it with fire?
lol I was at the game last night…. But Rasmussen getting his gloves dried after every shift…. Did the math. 21 seconds per shift, -2 +|-, only 1 hit. 2/9 on the dot. He is an absolute joke. I truly hope we doo get rid of him at some point. NEED HIM TO USE HIS BODY AND STEP UP HUGE TOMORROW VS TAMPA.

Alright I’ve done some thinking and come up with a way that Larkin and Copp can still contribute while being injured.
They fly to Columbus and kidnap Rick Bowness until May
This team needs some serious upgrades. Another wasted off-season co.ing back to haunt us at the end of the season.
I was already annoyed that it was going to overtime, then that happens
This team is not that far away from being a better or stronger team. The problem is the existing players. Coach T mentioned those just wearing a jersey, which was great to hear. Now, the action needs to be that the GM moves those passengers out and get some real forwards that are hard to play against. They are out there, but the FO needs to get them immediately. Nick Schmaltz agent should be on Yzerman’s speed dial. Was he in on McMann at the TDL? I am not sure, but regardless move out those just wearing the jersey.
Was MBN able to finish the game? He was missing at a certain point.
Last night – as disastrous as it appears – was a combination of boneheaded plays, bad luck/bounces and getting screwed by the refs. Simon going for the empty netter. Not getting the puck deep on that last shift. Raymond not burying the puck from 10′ and nobody in front of him. All the bounces / deflections went against the Wings. Then there was the missed slashing call that broke Faulk’s stick leading to FLA’s second goal and even worse was the obvious too many men on the GWG when Tkachuk jumped off the bench way too early which sprung that 3-on-1.
Every game is important but the season could still very well come down to the four consecutive games 19-27 March when the Wings play MTL, BOS, OTT and @ BUF. A lot of potential 4 points swing games there. Will Larkin be back by then?
So if this is gonna be a thing every season with this team who are we gonna bring in that’s gonna make us better or help us keep up with everyone in the division next season? Buffalo’s gonna run whatever happens back now that they know they aren’t incompetent, the Panthers will be healthy and the Senators would be ahead of us weeks ago with little than less league standard goaltending. We have a bunch of assets and the 2nd highest cap in the league, so…. what’s the plan *if* we miss again?
Is it my imagination or has Danielson been hurt quite a bit this year? Seems every time I look at a GR boxscore he’s missing. Now, when we could use him most and he could make an impact he’s out again.
Larkins confirmed out until monday at the earliest and copps out until saturday at the earliest. Perron slated for about a week from now. From the info we actually know, were not in horrible shape. Hopefully those timelines are accurate and we dont have any set backs
Sens are without sanderson (week to week), pens are without malkin (5 games), crosby (day to day).
We have tie breaker on isles and jackets and are close to sens one first tie breaker. We have the 2nd tie breaker on every team were fighting for a spot with.
boston and pens also struggling right now, isles and jackets have cooled off a little.
we still control our own destiny based purely on points and games remaining.
We also play all of these teams over the next 3 weeks, but not for another week and a half so there should be time to get healthy based on current injury timelines before the really important games happen
This is all to say that things look really rough right now, and they are, but the sky isnt falling and theres still a lot of hope. Were still in the driver’s seat and If we can limp through the next 2 games with no setbacks, were still in a prime position to make the playoffs. It just won’t be as comfortable as we would have hoped for a few weeks ago.
So, what’s our center order like for the near future? Kasper, Compher, then Ras I guess, then who? Finnie or Appleton or a call up? Would the call up be Dries or Lombardi or someone else? Any faceoff prodigies in GR we could bring up? Larkin and Copp were our best faceoff guys.
I’m just here to see how depressing the memes are today
I still cannot fathom how that loss happened yesterday, and to not even walk away with a single point is even more baffling. Copp being injured doesn’t mean you blow a lead like that in that manner. All you have to do is kill the clock, which considering the makeup of this roster should be easy for them, and not give it to Florida. That’s not some ethereal talent exclusive to Larkin and Copp.
Marco Kasper played out of his mind last night. I worry about the next two games, but that might have been the best game of his entire career. We NEED him to continue that if we’re going to make the playoffs.. he is a good player and he just needs to remember that
Can’t let this week ruin the season, playoffs are always about the depth stepping up, time for the bottom 6 to get in playoff form or we could quickly be on the outside looking in
I’m really pissed off about that game, who isn’t. There are certain guys who don’t have what it takes to win. Ras and Compher need to be gone tomorrow. Ras not closing out in the game tying goal will be how I remember him. I’ll forget Compher pretty quickly.
Finnie, Kasper, MBN all looked like winners last night.
Just too much dead weight costing the team. Apathy is a a killer
One defensive playing I am sick of seeing so often: flipping the puck like 50 feet in the air out of the D zone to neutral ice. This play has its place, of course, especially if you need a quick change from a gassed unit or you’re just under immense D zone pressure, but I fucking swear I saw this SO much last night.
No possession, no break out plays, no neutral play, and it also doesn’t even create a lot of time for full sail changes. Finnie did it 3 times that I saw, and it just looked panicked. I get he’s young, but I’d love to see more use of his speed.
Our playoffs chances seem exactly like watching this team in the 3rd period up by a goal. You just sit and hope but it just feels like just a matter of time before they let it slip away.
