Brent should play D or Bednar needs to insert a D man in his place. He's literally loosing us games. He also chooses to shoot too much. He’s the only player that does this too. While most don’t shoot enough. The new guys can fill Brent’s holes. I really don’t get it. Brent’s game streak shouldn’t play a part.

This team can and has overcome games with poor defense. It can and has overcome games with poor officiating. But overcoming both is not going to happen very often. Especially when the officiating removes the best offensive player on the team.
Brent Burns is a solid defenseman, calm, positionally solid, passes soft as butter. Not a good game last night by him or anyone defensively.
Objectively and using evidence without bias/fandom, MacKinnon call was absolutely wrong. Particularly after officials reviewed the play for several minutes. What are the looking at?
On goal 3 you missed the fact that the forwards had an abysmal change making it a 5 on 3. This also wasn't an isolated scenario, 2-3 more time in the same 5 minute span they completely failed to change correctly leading to odd man rushes.
Cale seems a bit tired on the oilers third goal on the back check… having said that… that both Toews and Makar just loose their guys on the back end of the play is just bad.

One thing I always always remember is Adam Wylde on SDPN mentioning how a Gold medal winning Olympian from I wanna say the Canadian Womens team about 12 years back?
She was on national and complained about the officiating in an NHL game. 40 minutes later on the same broadcast she was issuing an apology to them.
The zebras have such a mafia esque vibe around them.
It's why it's so easy to believe the tin foil hat theories sometimes, like that they bet on the outcome of games.
Not saying I buy into all the BSa theories about things being rigged, truly don't, it's the whole never apply malice when it's actually just sheer incompetence and with NHL officiating as was shown by the Olympics this year, the NHL zebras SUCK compared to the EU ones.
This game was infuriating for so many reasons. Avs D creating their own woes, Avs fans getting pissed a Blackwood even though we were hanging him out to dry, and hands down the worst reffing I've seen all season. All that piles up and equals an L. Learn from this one and throw it away. Can't win them all.
