Tough matchup out the gates for our guy. Hope he can rise to the occasion

The final nail in Monty’s coffin. It was a fun ride for a waiver pickup, but for a team that wants to contend for a Cup he sadly isn’t the guy.

It doesn’t bode well for Monty.
LevelParsnip
Dang, this should be interesting. I hope we aren’t rushing his development. Ottawa is on a bit of a heater

Monty was given many, many chances.

You know if he plays well that’s it for Monty, right?

This really shows a lack of confidence in Monty more than anything else to me.

So, Monty might finally be on his way out….?
Am I dreaming?

Sad for Monty but his play wasn’t good enough

Better not drink out of #13’s water bottle.

Monty has let in a goal on the first shot in 32 percent of his starts. It’s hard to have confidence with someone struggling so much.

Who is the backup? If it is Monty, we’re back to a 3 goalie rotation. If it is Dobes, Monty is done.
Listen I like the feel good story of a waiver pickup, Byron was the best of them, but we can see in the team’s play that the players don’t have confidence in Monty. The worst is that I don’t think Monty has confidence in Monty.
Best case scenario, we wave him and he gets a chance elsewhere. I would be happy to see him succeed but I feel like he desperately needs a change of scenery. At worst, we wave him and he reports to Laval and sees some success.

I mean I wasn’t the biggest Monty fan but 5-2-3 since he came back from laval is decent. But those last 2 losses probably lit a fire under KH ass that he can’t fumble a playoff spot that is far from assured at this point. The team will need 100 points to make it. I mean FFS TB/BUF/DET and BOS can all get 100 points in the East. Thats pretty nuts.
Next you gotta wonder why then not get a goalie at TDL and maybe that deal that was in place was for a goalie?
Jbroy
Most obvious decision, especially if you consider cap implications. If he wasn’t playing, why would they have called him up

Good bye forever, Monty. Played too good when we needed Bédard and too bad when we needed the wins.

Would have made more sense to have Fowler play last night against the Laughs.
And Dobes tonight v Sens.

Hopefully this awful ice storm doesn’t knock out power tonight cuz I REALLY wanna watch Fowler.

Feel bad for Monty but this is the right call. We will need better goaltending if we want to do anything in the playoffs and we are running out of runway for Monty to find his game. Still and absolute win for the organization picking him up off waivers for him to be our starter for 3 years where he did better than anyone expected. He could still end up with another chance depending on how the rookies do, Fowler is inexperienced and Dobes has only been slightly better this season so its still anyone’s net.

Feel for Monty. Think he can be an impact goalie elsewhere but it’s very clearly not Montreal anymore
zedemer
sucks we can’t waive Monty (or anybody) anymore. Oh well, time for cap massaging.

Hoping for the best.

Right move. Monty has played poorly all season. The Habs always seem like they are down by 2 a few minutes into a game when he is playing. He also has an inability to track pucks from distance and allows many goals with few minutes left to play. Cant blame the players and coaching staff for their lack of confidence in him.
Four or five extra points from the OTL column would have us sitting comfortably in a playoff spot. Instead, we still need to win games, and many of them, to maintain our position because Columbus and Ottawa are surging.

Ses statistiques à Laval depuis son retour son incroyables. Sur 12 matchs, seulement 3 en bas de ,900 et 7 en haut de ,920. Il mérite amplement sa chance

I hate that Monty played his best for us when we were tanking hard for a high pick (’23?).
Now when we need him he’s cooked. Extremely unfortunate.
