I just gotta say.. I literally never hear anything bad about Billy except from people on Reddit. Every single player that comes through here publicly says how much they like the guy and his approach to being a general manager. Seems like everyone who’s ever interacted with the guy has a positive story about him. You can just tell the players respect him.. probably because he’s been exactly where they are right now.
That was a really good interview, nice to get a longer form one with him. He seems like a gentle giant. I liked hearing him talk more about the awkwardness at first and it being strange because totally you’re fighting these guys you have history and now they’re your brothers. Such a strange thing but so common in sports with trades.
And I know it’s a cliche because all teams claim it but Wild do seem like a close tight knit group so it can be super intimidating especially so late in the season to integrate. But he’s really proving himself already and I think the players really like him. Some light teasing and then all is forgiven.
Love how he controls the puck in the corners along the boards. People just can’t move him. And he can win face-offs and help on the penalty kill? Perfection. 👌
