Ownership has to start at the top, firing anyone that doesn't get it. Or gets it and not willing to help the team get there. A losing culture is very, very difficult to repair I point to Carolina, and what Tom did in his first full year as an owner. Granted, he pissed off a lot of people with a few of the first firings he did. I remember some in the hockey world saying he was crazy, he's no hockey man, etc. A friend of mine who is a season ticket holder would call me. And do nothing but bitch and moan about Tom destroying the Canes. Who, had not been in the playoffs for….I think for 10 or 11 years. Carolina had a losing culture. Whether Tom cleaned house using instinct and intuition, consulted with a few people, or hired a Shaman to help him. It was the best damn move that could have been done. I think the fact that he was not a "hockey man." is what helped the team, and get them on a solid footing. I know, Carolina has not won a cup under Tom. But they are a damn fun team to watch, and they've made the playoffs every year Tom has been a full time owner. I was in the camp with most everyone else. Thinking, "a-hole is coming in there and gutting the team and the staff." Turns out that exactly what the team needed. When I think about Toronto, I think Carolina times 10. It's a brutal hockey market. But at the end of the day, Toronto fans wants the same as every other NHL fan. A winning team. I recall reading an article on Tom, and the reporter was saying, you cannot take a moneyball approach to hockey. You must spend to the cap to having a winning team. Tom's response could not have been any better. He said, "you mean like the Rangers and Leafs"? And it was a very valid point. As they say down there, the proof is in the pudding.
For the Maple Lames, to have the largest,most loyal,fan base in Hockey, is truly, Sacrilege!!!
Nylander straight up lied about not seeing the hit. He saw it 100% then said he missed it and that is why he never retaliated. The replay clearly shows he is a liar. This team is insanely dysfunctional and needs to be stripped down to the boards. Nothing needs to even come back in return, no picks no prospects just get rid of the cancer(s) and move on as a healthier team able to succeed in the future.

Why would anybody want to back up Mathews as their captain, this guy has been the great escape artist as far as playing at what he is getting paid.The no response from teamates says exactly whats wrong with Toronto, the coach, the management, and all the hasbeens shanahan has brought in.He should be one of the first to go, responsible for all the dumb moves in the last 10 years.Trade Mathews now, get a shitload of draft capital before hes worth nothing.

I have two trains of thought with this. One is why is Austin Matthews playing to begin with? Heâs not looked 100 percent, even prior to the Olympic break. Toronto isnât in the playoff hunt, so why wasât he shut down to prevent something that could affect next season? I could understand if Toronto was in the playoff mix, but they arenât.
Two, why did no one in blue decide to give anyone on the other team some pain? Iâll switch this to baseball 20 years ago. If a pitcher hit a Boston Red Sox player up and in, and looked intentional. The very next game Pedro Martinez pitched against that team, he was going to get even. That didnât happen last night.
