SY must’ve known or at least suspected this possibility. He was only remaining on the exciting prospects list for me if he came to NA soon.

I think this benefits our side of the trade even more now, as we traded a piece that we would have been less likely/longer to see!
cows1100
Yeah, I have next to no worries. Less and less of a chance he ever even steps in to NA.
topshko_niin
Too bad so sad not our worry anymore lol

I mean, it’s not a good thing that this kid may stay overseas forever. Sure it makes him look less valuable, but I’d rather players live their dream and make it to the show even if we traded them away for proven talent now. St. Louise is a Western team too so it’s not like we’d be playing against them/ him
_whitelightning_91
Seems he’s not interested in coming over to play in the AHL, his choice at the end of the day.

Maybe now people will stop melting down because we traded him.
jarvek7
So he sort of said fuck you to the Blues?

The way I see it, Yzerman traded a Buchelnikov’s negotiating rights to St. Louis along with Justin Holl for future considerations (since we traded Soderblom away and did the pick juggling).

Makes the Faulk trade that much better.
I doubt he ever sees N.American ice.
BuffaloSoldier11
Pfft he’s never coming to America, is he?
Not having a great year this season, either.

Pretty sure this is about Amntpnn 6y4e👖ob
thribbitthrobbit
But I was told that trading him was the biggest fuck up in history and Yzerman should be fired into the sun for doing such a thing
storm_reaver43
Meh. I think Fedorov gave Stevie a 1st hand scouting report
Shotokanguy
I gotta wonder if being traded to the Blues made him less interested in coming over.
Clean_Principle_2368
Wow, look at that. Yzerman made the right call… again. Funny how wrong people are on here.
GiantDongDK
I’m fine with the trade but why is everyone acting like this somehow means the Blues won’t end up with him or he won’t play in N.A.. I believe they have his exclusive rights until he is 27.
He’s 22 and it’s one more year. I’m a devout Yzerplan stan but this isn’t really some kind of “we won the trade” moment imo
AirFriedSushi
That’s why you shouldn’t place so much hope on prospects, folks.

Well Buch was excited to be in the Wings system, and was eager to come here or GR. He was on a familiar basis with Wings employees. Then he gets traded, and immediately re ups in the KHL. To me it’s pretty certain one happened because of the other.
Not sure why everyone thinks this was some inevitable vindication.

Seems like drafting Russians who want to start their careers in Russia is a massive risk.

He’s probably not coming over seas

He resigned BECAUSE he was dealt to St. Louis.
TheGongShow61
This is such a nothing burger being used as a cope. Its one year and he blew his knee out. I’d be more concerned about recovery than one more year in the KHL, which is consistently ranked as a tougher league than the AHL.
Kid has plenty of time to get to the NHL. The question is, will he be a Radulov or a Damien Brunner.

Yzerplan continues to be vindicated.
