For those curious, he will be eligible to play when the leafs next play Anaheim on March 30th.

  2. better_every_day14

Should be for the same amount of time that Matthews is out

  3. propagandhi45

Good. He wont injure a habs player sunday.

  4. willoughbytucker1

The NHL is such a joke it’s unfortunate cause it really is the best sport but god it’s so poorly ran

  5. Ropsuta

That’s actually bit more than what I expected, but still too little

  6. Gingerangelo

Damn, I was planning to tune in to watch Gudas those games.

  7. themusicguy2000

Just expel him from the league ffs

  8. MomboDM

Gotta wonder about the timing of all the decisions and information being floated behind the scenes… if Matthews’ injury forced their hand this time.

Honestly though fuck Paros with a 20 inch walrus dick. Theres no way he’s long for his position at this point right? There was so much egregious shit happening the first few months of this season in particular that were just straight up unpunished or shrugged off with a fine. The teams/players association **have** to be putting pressure on the league by now… right?

  9. ShootsScores29

Any player that injures another intentionally, like this one was, should serve the same length of time away from the game as the injured player. Watch how fast it all ends! And, I am not a fan of either team for context.

  10. screechypete

I was expecting 1-2 games and a slap on the ass while they tell him « Get in there champ! »

  11. Pure-Yogurt101

I fucking hate Gudas. He’s the same piece of shit that was the the reason why Crosby missed the rest of the olympics fuck this guy.

  12. Konaboy75

It’s not enough. Disgraceful act by Player Safety.

  13. Ragez121

What a fucking joke , Matthews is out for the season with a serious injury. 5 games is fucking nothing!

Regardless what you think of the leafs as a team and their current position in the standings, that piece of shit is a dirty ass player and should have been suspended for 20+ games man, it was such a blatant and obvious cheap shot that has now put Matthews into possible surgery and ended his season. What a fucking joke , fire every single person on that board and replace them

  14. Snorrrrlacks

Shreds Matthews’ knee with his 5,000th dirty hit, gets 5 games. Makes perfect sense. Fucking joke.

  15. Deraj2004

Five games for a repeat offender who ended a dudes season.

  16. Aezetyr

Again, NHL DoPS fucking sucks. He should be out for the rest of the regular season + playoffs if the ducks make it. Once again the DoPS fulfills the PoS part.

  17. Ok-Patient583

He should be suspended for 5 games on top of any time that Matthews is out. Otherwise, it’s just an incentive to injure players.

  18. mikeydavison

We better go headhunting on March 30

  19. My_cat_is_a_creep

That goon should be kicked out of the NHL. He has made a career out hurting other players.

  20. NightmanCT

I like what Dangle said. Just grab a Duck and start punching them until someone stops you. However the Leafs are softer than a baby diaper, so doubt that’ll happen.

  21. coolin68

    This league sucks.

5 games is a joke. Suspend him for the season, since Matthews is out for the season.

    Gudas stinks.

    Fire him into the sun.

  22. passo_carrabile

Good. Won’t be playing against the Habs Sunday.

  23. CanadianIronman

Nowhere long enough… especially as a repeat offender.

  24. cheeky_nonconformist

I just saw the hit. What a piece of SHIT. 5 is not long enough

  25. Katieo1022

Punishment should fit the crime: kick him out for the rest of the season.

  26. zivlynsbane

Ended Matthews season most likely and only gets 5 games? Cmon now.

  27. Top_Consideration582

This is bullshit. Gudas will be all rested up after his 5 game suspension and continue to go after more players. Wha a load of shit. It’s not like this is his first offence. He just injured Crosby.

  28. SlightlyOffWhiteFire

Part of me wonders if its just cause they were too lazy to do a full hearing and did a phone hearing instead, which can only give out 5 games max.

  29. Marnot_Sades

So seriously, why isn’t there a rule or precedent for kicking players out of the league/indefinite suspensions? I know there have been a few that were indefinitely suspended but they were the results of legitimate crimes.

But I feel like players who have a significant history of causing injuries through dirty/stupid hits need to have a limit. Gudas, Bennett, Wilson, hell, even Marchand have all had a good, long history of shit like this. You’re telling me that it’s fine for a player who has a history of dealing out injuries is allowed to give career ending, life altering injuries and the punishment is just “no games for five days”?

  30. GirlyFootyCoach

Again crimes on the ice should match the severity of the injury. If AM is out for the rest of the season so should Goonas

  31. FellSorcerer

The NHL is a joke. This should have been a long, long suspension. 20 games at minimum. If the Leafs have any spine, they’ll go after Gudas with intention to hurt.

  32. hans42x

Taking a player out with a dirty hit for the rest of the season should result in suspension until that player can return to the lineup.

  33. paradox-eater

Why is Gudas still allowed to play in the NHL lmao

  34. max_semenator

Predetermined suspension of no more than 5 games due to phone hearing rather than an in person hearing. Gudas has history of suspensions, but obviously it wasn’t considered in decision on aspect of hearing. Parros and rest of DoPS should be fired.

  35. 1362313623

The suspensions should match the number of games the injured player misses 🤷
