It's hockey it happens, could it of been avoided yes, or if Matthew's wasn't trying to avoid a straight up hit the knees wouldn't of made contact at all, and honestly that's the fastest I've seen gudas ever move, so there was no stopping

This loss wasn't just Gudas' fault, it was the entire team's poor powerplay and penaltykill play. The first period was otherwise great, but after that they stopped playing. pp(24.) and pk(25.) need a rewamp
going for the hit in the slot, yeah you might get him, the puck can end up anywhere and you cant defend because you are recovering from the hit you just threw.. dumb all around.

It seemed like the whole team lost their emotional composure. Kreider was slashing, Gudas went for that dirty hit, and it went downhill from there. I was so disappointed. Hopefully Quienville gets them into shape before the end of this roadtrip.
I got really upset by this one, Gudas is a Captain, it was clearly intentional, Maple Leafs scored 2 off the Major, we need all the points we can get after the trade deadline. 🤦♂️
One of my biggest criticisms of this team during our playoff drought is we didn't have any fight in our guys. We aren't mean, like we're trying to win a sportsmanship award. With Johnson out we looked scared. I'm not big on Vatrano but at least he's not afraid to mix it up. I miss the days when we had a tough guy and some dudes that could throw fists… Getzy wasn't a guy you messed with, even Perry could handle himself. Anyway, LET'S GO DUCKS!!!

Difficult hit sure but it wasn't deliberate. He was trying to check him and Matthews tried to dodge with an unfortunate result. Not suspension worthy at all but because it's Matthews he'll get a couple of games. Matthews is twisting out of the way of a check and Gudas momentum carried through. I'm no Gudas fan, can't stand him really, but the intent just isn't there. Dangle is a biased idiot so his little fanboy opinions don't mean anything.

I think Verbeek picked up Carlson to replace Gudas. He's on his way out. An outright liability on the ice. Completely changed the complexion of the game. Toronto got away with quite a few hooks & interference calls but at the end of the day you have to keep your composure in a tight game and the Ducks didn't. Let's see if they can follow this stinker up with two great efforts this weekend like they did after the St. Louis game.
Can the ducks appeal the suspension and make it through the playoffs? I don't know what is worse though. That we know he costs us everytime he's on the ice, and yet he still has the C and is never benched. This the same as the last two coaches we've had. But Veterans.

From dominating to capitulating in the blink of an eye.. i hope Carlson is ready and steps in for Gudas, cuz Helleson sure aint cutting it. We likely would be a better defensive group with Carlson over Gudas, and definitely better offensively. Sennecke was trying to do too much all game, but then again, he was saddled with the McT albatross so…. At least we have a coach that can likely get this group to refocus quickly.

The sad thing is ,no one from the team did anything. They "didn't saw anything" and just turned away. Every other team would jump in and take care of this guy. But the Leafs? No "we didn't saw anything." When this guy comes back he will continue with his hits and act like "It was an accident" .
