I agree with 1st caller in a way not that Connor isn't worth 12m or him and Scheifele arnt talented but the guys around the core Helly,Jmo,Villardi have all underperformed. Making them cheat even worse then they normally do which isn't much defence. If we had a great 2nd/3rd line not Iafallo,Namestnikov,Neidereitter,Nyquist it would hide the insufficientcies of the 1st line.
In a match up vs match up come playoffs what other teams top guys who have dogs in them willing throw the body,play hard every shift,fight if need be none of our core besides Lowry have it I don't mean a goon or guys like Stanley/Schenn depth. I mean watch top teams cores
Florida- Marchand,Bennett,Tkachuk,Ekblad,Mikola,even bottom 6 guys do what is needed.
Tampa- Paul,Perry,Cirelli,Hagel,Point,Moser,Lilleberg whoever do what is needed fight hit make it hard to play against.
Guys from the Cup teams Schenn,Bogosian,Coleman,Killorn,McDonagh,Maroon,Goodrow,took a chance on Callahan.

When a fan or media say oh well or try and cope there's more ways to win or play to get a cup there really isn't it's willingness do what it takes go back last 25yrs look at all the teams.
The ducks yes had skill Selanne,Neidermayer,Underrated player AndyMcdonald but had Pronger,Jackman,Getzlaf,Perry,Penner,Moen,Beauchemin,OBrian,Thornton,Parros/BradMay,Kunitz,Fedoruk,Rome guys not afraid hard to play against mix it up.
Not soft players but needing a mix of both the offensive guys need to be offensive and guys who hard to play against accept roles.

When younger Kadri/Schenn/ORielly/Jenner would have fit 2C now they are old. And mid guys like Coyle,Lee,Hayes,Dach whoever arnt enough it needs to be a Pettersson/Barzal/Horvat/Zabinejad/Thomas bigger name guy but they won't want to come here. And guys like Wright/Mercer are young.

13:14 That is incredibly naive to think that they're years away from this conversation. Hellebuyck doesn't have that many years as an elite player left. He's going to turn 33 in two months. If this team continues to go nowhere with this same front office making bargain basement moves, Helle could be asking out by early next season.
He wants to win a cup, and the Jets are getting further & further away from that, and he's getting older. And the ownership & front office has shown no real commitment to building a legit contender. And when they had a chance last year, Chevy botched the TDL badly.
That conversation is a lot sooner than you think. Florida will be looking for a goalie since they're not extending Bobrovsky.
