So basically, this isn’t a boys club. I really believe that what Montreal is doing now, from drafting to asset management to building a positive locker room culture, will be the framework that rebuilding teams will emulate now that we’re entering a new era of the NHL that emphasizes speed and skill over physicality. They want the team to be personally in sync with each other and its already paying off (see last year’s playoff push that wasn’t expected).
Ok guys do you realize how big of a statement that is?
Did you ever suspect to hear about emotional intelligence by an NHL head coach?
And he’s genuinely talking about it to explain what makes the Habs such a different team in terms of mentality.
Son of a bitch, I would run through a wall for this man right now.
If Montreal can truly turn this into a long term, sustained success, you will see a bunch of other teams start to follow this model. The growth exhibited by everyone has been a huge breath of fresh air, and hopefully this starts leading to an end of the old boys club.
I’m a big Liverpool FC fan and the way Marty talks is very similar to how Klopp used to talk. It’s about making sure the team is made up of good people first and foremost, build the culture of hard work and reap the rewards of it. The key is continuing this beyond a single management group. The next set of coaches and GMs need to stick to the same formula. It creates a likeable team, and an environment other players want to be a part of.
This is the future of success in pro sports and it always boggles my mind that teams are still hiring dinosaurs for their management.
Sounds like how the Blue Jays built the clubhouse – power of Friendship lfggggg

J’adore cette mentalité New School!
This is the team I’ve always wanted to root for.
Yeah, Captain Nick really anchors it. You can see it in the young guys like Huston and Demidov.
