It's a weird team. Top line has been one of if not the best in the whole NHL, and then for most of the year it looks like 3 4th lines after that. Also fun how like 2 months in a bunch of fans (myself included) were saying the old geezers they brought in need to go an bring up prospects, and a bunch of other fans were saying those prospects weren't ready. Well, trade deadline came, we sold off some of the old geezers, and the prospects are putting up points in winning games…
The fact is, the core of this team is great, but the support cast really took a hit the last off-season. Even if they do make the playoffs, I think this year is pretty well a wash. But a good offseason (asking a lot of "sit on your thumbs" chevy, I know) and we're back to cup contenders next year.
Just got into Hockey any tips on how to learn rules quickly and what teams to follow? I'm from Ohio so the blue jackets are the obvious choice but I've been drawn to Sharks and Mammoth.
There's a big chance a wildcard will have more points than the division leader they'll be in the playoffs against.

Jets and Rangers doing just well enough to mess-up their lottery odds. Something is broken with both teams – they may be playing well for now, but so were the Canucks not so long ago, and we see where that got them :/

obviously, unless you're a fan or a particular team – the jets in this case – i'd rather see the sharks make it because they're more exciting to watch nowadays with celebrini. if the jets do manage to make it in, good for them, but they're likely gonna play some boring-ass hockey and then make a first-round exit lol i'd rather see what the sharks could potentially do over what the jets could potentially do by entertainment value alone.

the Jets making the playoffs would be a huge mistake. The team has no depth and almost all the core over 30. Even if they did make it they would get swept in the first round again.

Squeezing into to a wildcard spot only to get swept by the Avs doesn't sound particularly appealing.
Getting rid of Schenn and Pearson were good moves that helped things but it was too little too late. I don't see them making playoffs with how inconsistent they are
