    The leadership of this league needs to be turned over. The owners like Bettman, he’s done some good things, but this good ol boy network that’s been in charge for decades is just out of touch and utterly stale. This playoff format sucks. The fans will still show up because they’re fans, but it’s no secret that this format is not popular with the paying customers.

    This league has no idea how to market its top tier teams or players, and after that disgraceful ruling this past week, it has no intention of prioritizing or protecting its stars either.

    Greatest sport, worst league.

    Yeah, let’s watch oil vrs kings one more time. Never thought I would type this out but I want the 1 vrs 8 back. Not fair to powerhouse teams like Dallas-Colorado-Minnesota have to possibly meet first round and exit. It’s possible the 2nd best team in the league may get rewarded in the first round by playing the 3rd best team in the league if that is how they finish point wise.

    I generally like him. I’d take him over the clowns running the NFL and NBA any day of the week.

    But this one is a catastrophic, undeniable, absolutely monstrous swing and a miss. Divisional playoffs are the single stupidest system the league has ever used. That:
    – Edmonton might still play LA in the first round for the fifth year in a row
    – only one of Colorado, Dallas, and Minny can even theoretically make round three
    – WC1 may have more points than P1
    can ALL BE TRUE IN THE SAME YEAR is proof enough of that. This system is explicitly designed to NOT find the best team. Go back to 1-8.

    Also, his « but the first round is good! » line is just stupid. The goal should never be a good first round, it should be a good third/fourth round. And it’s not even true anyways; the only time I’m watching any first round hockey is it’s one of the teams I cheer for, or it’s a game going into overtime.
