I never thought we’d have 3 solid goalies while Levi is still on the Amerks. First world hockey problems.
A tandem is currently the trend in the NHL and given these compressed schedules for non NHL Game tournaments . I can see it becoming permanent rather that the back up goalie only starting in a back to back game like was the case in the past.
The days of having 1 starter who plays 65-70 games and a backup playing the remaining games is over. Most teams have 2 guys who play 60/40 or even 50/50. Sabres were like, hold my beer and decided let’s have 3 solid guys playing 30/35/35 lol
The more rest and internal competition, the better. It will pay dividends in the playoffs.
The more this goes on, the more I think they should buck tradition and actually keep the alternating games into the playoffs instead of picking a guy and riding him until performance or injury dictate otherwise.
