So if I read that right the Hamilton arena they’re moving to has a larger capacity than UBS?

It’s a good move for the organization, Hamilton is a hockey mad market and the new building is great, but I feel bad for Bridgeport fans who stuck with the team, especially in the last few years when they have been pretty awful.

Yeah as sad as I am to see the team be moved so far from the island I think this is a smart investment and should create a far better environment for our talent to develop. Hamilton is a bonafide hockey town while Bridgeport always seemed to lag behind in development.

As a CT fan, this fucking sucks, even though it’s anything but news. Especially as the development system is looking the best it’s looked in years.

Looks like being called up in the morning and playing that night isn’t happening anymore

Putting the farm team in the home town of your rookie sensation is a great way to build a fan base. This has probably been in the works since before we picked up Schaefer, but my god it’s a great coincidence.
The Hammer is primed to hate Toronto. Working class area close to a big city that thinks the sun shines out of it’s ass. We’re not totally dissimilar. If we have a decent product the Coliseum will sell out every game, and we’ll create a little pocket of Islanders fans right in Toronto’s back yard.

Very sad to see them go, I went to see them two weeks ago and the group of fans who went to the games were so into it. Followed the team like we do the islanders. Lots of youth hockey teams at the game too which is great for cheap high quality hockey to see as a kid.
And all the fans went to this pizza place before the game and the place was packed with Bridgeport games. Felt sad for them that the team was leaving.
Overall this will be much better for our AHL team but just feel for Bridgeport
